“You can check the security cameras over to your right with the click of that blue button. Uh, you can toggle between the hall cams and the vent cams...” |
Vent CAMs are a series of locations in Five Nights at Freddy's 3. The vents are visibly seen in the Camera Monitor's vent map system after clicking on the Map Toggle option. Springtrap is able to enter every other vent camera.
Background Appearance[]
Nothing much can be seen here besides Springtrap, as these cameras only show the vents. In terms of the vent walls, it looks very similar in both texture and color to the vents in the second game.
Gameplay[]
CAM 11[]
This camera is the default view when toggling maps for the first time. The vent connects to CAM 09 and the forked path between CAM 07 and CAM 01. Upon noticing Springtrap, the player must seal the vent door, otherwise he will transfer to either CAM 07 or CAM 01.
CAM 12[]
This vent is taken from the front camera view, but it is taken from slightly towards the side. The vent connects CAM 07. The player must quickly seal the vent upon noticing Springtrap, otherwise he will move to CAM 01, giving him a high chance to enter the Office.
CAM 13[]
The shortest vent, found connected between CAM 01 (the hallway part found behind the Office window) and CAM 05. This vent is taken from an overhead viewpoint.
CAM 14[]
This vent is taken from the front camera view, but now the camera is placed on the right-hand side of Springtrap. It first connects CAM 10, leading straight to the Office.
If the player does not seal the vent in time, Springtrap will leave and immediately jumpscare the player, making checking this vent very crucial to the player's strategy. On much later nights, it becomes much more difficult to win as once Springtrap enters this vent, the player will almost immediately fail the night. The only way to avoid a game over at this point would be to sit still until the clock rolls over to 6 AM, but this only works if the player is halfway through 5 AM, as the ventilation error will most likely make Springtrap attack. Also, it is very likely that sitting idle will trigger Phantom Freddy's attack.
CAM 15[]
This vent is taken from an overhead viewpoint, but the camera is slightly behind Springtrap. The vent connects CAM 02, and leads to the Office. Similar to CAM 14, Springtrap will usually have a chance to enter the Office for a jumpscare if the player fails to shut the vent in time.
Trivia[]
- The vents also appear in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, exclusive to the FNAF 3 mode.
- CAM 11 is the one that allows the player to look the farthest back into the vents. All the other ones either get cut off at a corner, or are at a different angle.
- When Springtrap is CAM 12, the area where he is at seems to be slightly brighter. This also appears to occur when Springtrap is in CAM 14.
- If one looks closely at Springtrap's eyes in CAM 13, it appears that he is looking up at the camera. This is also the case with CAM 15.
- CAM 13 appears to be the darkest vent area of the map, but it seems to get slightly brighter when Springtrap is found inside of it.
- The lighting in this vent is almost identical to the Flashlight in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
- When Springtrap is seen in this camera, the lighting in the vent seems to be brighter. It is unknown why this happens, but it is possibly a lighting error by Scott Cawthon.
- Springtrap's entire lower body in CAM 14 doesn't seem to be visible. This is either an error by Scott Cawthon, or the light that illuminates the vent simply doesn't stretch that far.
- If one looks at CAM 15, the vent has a brownish color tint to it, but when Springtrap is in this vent, the brown tint is gone. It is unknown why this occurs.
Errors[]
- While Springtrap is in CAM 11, his right arm appears to clip through the wall. This is also the case with CAM 14.
- When Springtrap is seen on CAM 12, it can be seen that his hand is almost clipping through the vent.
- Springtrap's left arm appears to be clipping through the vent wall.
