History[]
Tristan's first appearance is an email responding to Nora, who had previously sent an email "Might need more time" to the Compliance Team in general.
Nora got the new animatronic up and running, like the Compliance Team had wanted, but the facial recognition upgrades are not taking the exactly expected effect. At the time, the best from Research and Development are looking at it, so Nora suggests an extension, if possible, since she would hate for these to be out before being ready. The postscript has Nora still waiting to hear back about the other ones and asks if anyone even saw the request.
Tristan replies that Nora mentioned the other day in the sync meeting that her guys found a work-around, so he denies her extension and tells her to just use the work-around to reach the original dates. His postscript states he saw the earlier request, but Nora knows how it is and there is nothing yet he can say about them.
Later on, Tristan hears about Nora attempting to go over his head to his boss on the Toy Freddy issue, so he sends her an email about it, "Not cool". While Tristan appreciates that she is trying to do what she thinks is her job, her department is not defining compliance and safety standard, it's his. Their product analysts found the issue to be negligible, as such they will just add a note to the bottom of the outgoing customer outreach emails, which will cover them legally, stating that it is not like any of the Fazbear Funtime Service users read them. The postscript instructs Nora to talk to him the next time she considers going over Tristan's head, else he will have to bring the matter to Human Resources. Nora is not giving him any other option, so he is sorry to be the bad guy about it.
Nora relents, however she wants it noted in writing what the R&D department reported, emphasizing how unsafe Toy Freddy is for the public. She explains the interference happening with the upgraded facial recognition suite contains the risk of rendering all the safety functions on the users' handsets useless.
Eventually, Tristan receives an email, "Couple of weird customer reports", from Isolde, regarding some strange Customer Service reports which she does not know how to respond to. Several hardcore Fazbear Funtime Service users are reporting a smelly vintage Bonnie model which does not appear anywhere in their database. Isolde questions if it is possible a second hand model somehow made it into the deployment rotation, however, Tristan does not respond.
Tristan contacts Nora again, this time about the "New Multarticulus Model Delays". After looking at those reports for the motility tests on the new model, Tristan is a tad disturbed by the lack of progress. From what Tristan is seeing, the rebuilds are having trouble even moving on ground level properly, while the original model was purportedly capable of climbing on the ceiling. He is wondering what kind of shop R&D is running downstairs, since the Marketing Department is urging him to promise they will keep the launch date, except he is not getting any confidence from what he is seeing.
First of all, Nora tells Tristan to go tell marketing to jump off of a bridge. She complains they just have to write some fancy copy, while R&D are down here attempting to make all of their insane promises work in real life on unrealistic budgets and completely crazy deadlines. They are doing the best they can, she reiterates. Secondly, there is a huge difference between a new model based upon the same bipedal chassis, and one based on whatever Tristan wants to call this thing, wondering to consider it a quadruped, spider, or tripod. Furthermore, the power needs are different, because the locomotion is entirely different. They have to completely redo the hydraulic calibrations, and they also need to replace the old CPU for one with a faster baud rate. On top of all that, marketing is crazy to want them to put together a "Controlled Disassembly" feature too. Lastly, she practically screams at Tristan to get off her back. She warned management reproducing the more exotic endoskeletons would become troublesome, but they decided to go on with putting them on the schedule anyway. Nora ends by stating they are simply going to have to live with the limitations of basic physics.
Tristan's final exchange is with Charles D., who is sorry to bother him, but asks if there any "Circuit board changes?". Charles wants to confirm there were no changes to the circuit boards, as the documentation states there to only be changes to the external plush suit, but some of the Quality Assurance testers are saying the behavioral matrix is a bit aggressive.
Tristan gets back to Charles and confirms the documentation is accurate in that there are only external alterations to the plush suit, as R&D have not even touched the holiday release. Tristan sarcastically wonders if Charles' people think a computer controlled animatronic can somehow get into the holiday spirit and reprogram itself. He says it is just a machine controlled by a circuit board that has to do what they tell it to do, and nothing more.
Tristan is mentioned one last time in an email from Nora to Charles. She tells him in advance that R&D have not touched the animatronics, but she is sure Tristan would love to hear any other questions Charles might have.
Trivia[]
- Tristan is involved in nine emails total, not counting the one he is only mentioned in.
- Tristan apparently had a scrapped response to Isolde's email.[1]
Emails[]
Might need more time[]
“Might need more time Okay, we got the new one up and running, like you guys wanted. Gotta say, though...the facial recognition upgrades aren't taking the exact effect we expected. We've got our best looking at it, now. I would suggest getting an extension, if possible. Would hate for these to go out before they're ready. Thanks, Nora P.S. Still waiting to hear back about the other ones. Did anyone even see the request?” |
Re: Might need more time[]
“Re: Might need more time That's a no-go on an extension. You mentioned the other day in the sync meeting that your guys found a work-around, right? Just go with that and hit the original dates. Tristan Oh and I saw the earlier request, nothing I can say about them yet. (You know how it is...)” |
Not cool[]
“Not cool Nora, I heard about you trying to go over my head to my boss about the Toy Freddy issue. While I appreciate you are trying to do what you feel is your job, defining compliance and safety standards is my department, not yours. Our product analysts have determined that the Toy Freddy issue is negligible. We'll just slap a note at the bottom of the outgoing customer outreach mails - it's not like any of the users even read those, and we'll be covered legally. Tristan P.S. Next time you feel like going over my head, come talk to me, or you'll force me to bring this up with Human Resources. Sorry to be the bad guy about this, but you're really not leaving me with any other choice.” |
Re: Not cool[]
“Re: Not cool Fine. But I want it noted it in writing what my department reported. Toy Freddy is not safe to go out to the public. The interference happening with the upgraded facial recognition suite risks rendering all the safety functions on the users' handsets useless. Nora” |
Couple of weird customer reports[]
“Couple of weird customer reports Hey Tristan, We've been getting some weird reports here in Customer Service that I don't really know how to respond to. A handful of our more hardcore users of the service have been reporting service calls from an animatronic that isn't appearing anywhere in our database. Some kind of vintage Bonnie model. A couple of people have mentioned a really bad smell from it as well. Is it possible some old second hand model somehow made it into our deployment rotation? Izzy” |
New Multarticulus Model Delays[]
“New Multarticulus Model Delays Nora, I've been looking over those reports on the motility tests for the new model and I gotta say I'm a little disturbed by the lack of progress. The original was purportedly able to move along the ceiling, and from what I'm seeing here, we're having issues getting our rebuilds to even move on level ground properly. What kind of shop are you guys running down there? The marketing guys are lighting fires under me to promise we'll hit the launch date for this, and what I'm seeing is not filling me with confidence. Tristan” |

I warned management that reproducing the more exotic endoskeletons would be a problem, and they decided to go ahead and put them on the schedule anyways. Circuit board changes?[]
“Circuit board changes? Hey Tristan, Sorry to bother you, but wanted to confirm that there were no changes on the circuit board side of things? The documentation says it's just external changes to the plush suit, but some of the testers here are swearing the behavioral matrix is kinda, well, aggressive. CD” |
