Jillian[]
Jillian is one of the Beautifuls. She is slender yet curvy with long, fiery red hair and catlike green eyes. At the start of the story, Sarah sees Jillian and the other Beautifuls strutting down the hall with matching black-and-white outfits. Jillian's specifically has stripes. The next day, they wear cute skinny jeans with fitted jewel-colored tops and matching slip-on canvas shoes. Sarah tries sitting with them, but they continue talking without her and she decides to leave. After school, Sarah sees them at the Brown Cow with their boyfriends.
Two days later, Jillian enters the restroom while Sarah is washing her hands. She checks her face and hair in the mirror before noticing and complimenting the polish on Sarah's nails. A few days later, Jillian and the other Beautifuls wear red. They take notice of Sarah, although they believe she is a new student, and Lydia invites her to sit with them. Lydia and Emma ask her a few questions about her family, and when Sarah tells them that her mother is a social worker and her father is a lawyer the Beautifuls nod in approval. Jillian then asks if Sarah has a boyfriend, and Sarah reveals she likes Mason Blair. Jillian comments that he's hot, which Lydia and the rest of the group agree on. Later, when Sarah meets up with the Beautifuls at Diller's, Jillian gives Sarah pink lipstick with sparkles, saying it would look good with her skin tone. The Beautifuls buy lipstick, eye shadows, blush, and brow pencils using wads of cash and their parents' credit cards. They then spend an hour and a half trying on dresses and modeling until they're kicked out by a saleslady. Jillian leaves the dresses in a crumpled pile on the floor and comments that the saleslady doesn't seem to like them, but Lydia insults the saleslady for working in a store and making minimum wage.
Later, the Beautifuls go to school in skinny jeans. During lunch, Lydia makes fun of Abby's clothes, which Jillian and the Beautifuls laugh along with. When Sarah trips, the entire group initially laughs at her but start screaming when her true form begins to reveal itself.

Sarah tries sitting with them, but they continue talking without her and she decides to leave. After school, Sarah sees them at the Brown Cow with their boyfriends.

Unnamed Cashier[]
The unnamed cashier works at the beauty supply sore just about fifteen-minutes from Sarah's house. She has obviously dyed, bright red hair and false eyelashes, which Sarah says makes her look like a giraffe. When Sarah checks out, she tells her that her hair needs bleached first and tells her where to find peroxide. After Sarah buys them, she gets suspicious and asks if Sarah's mother knows she's dying her hair. When Sarah says yes she lets her leave.
Unnamed Stylist[]
An unnamed stylist works at the hair salon at the mall. When Sarah reveals her green hair, the stylist gasps and tells Sarah it's a good thing she came to her. She spends the next hour and a half there.
Unnamed Saleslady[]
An unnamed saleslady works at Diller's, watching as Sarah and the Beautifuls trying on dresses and modeling with them. After half an hour of watching them, she asks if they're actually going to buy the dresses or are just playing dress-up. The girls run away and mock her, although Sarah feels bad for her.
