Plot[]

Mr. Burrows has had an impressive history, getting into college at the age of 13 and has an impressive IQ and looks. Now, at 35-years-old, Mr. Burrows is the youngest Fazbear Entertainment board chairman in history. The board consists of five men, four women, and one other person: 64-year-old Edwin Murray. Haunted by a mysterious tragic backstory that resulted in many years of therapy and visits to the doctor, Edwin became part of the board when Fazbear Entertainment bought out his engineering company 30 years ago.

During a meeting with an accountant, Mr. Burrows is upset to learn that the Mega Pizzaplex isn’t making as much money as he hoped with its current setup. He concludes that creative development is to blame, and the team needs downsized. Edwin and Mr. Burrows begin to argue over the decision, but Edwin ultimately has no power in the debate. Mr. Burrows suggests using AIs to come up with stories, naming it “The Storyteller.” Edwin once again attempts to argue against the decision, but everyone else is on board. Mr. Burrows decides to make Edwin a consultant on the project, and immediately ignores his concerns as the rest of the board comes up with plans for The Storyteller.

It’s decided that The Storyteller would reside in a huge fake tree in the center of the Pizzaplex’s atrium. When designing a style, the design team argued over oak, elm, redwood, eucalyptus, olive, fig, and poplar, until Edwin stepped in and argued that it should be a baobab tree, since they’re large and have all sorts of legends associated with them. The team agreed to go with Edwin’s plan, designing a trunk with a vaguely bulbous appearance. Mr. Burrows insisted on a yellow trunk to match the bright-yellow of the rollercoaster tracks, although the design team incorporated different shades of yellow in order to somewhat resemble bark. Mr. Burrows also insisted that branches be rainbow colored. The roots are wiring that connects to every venue in the Pizzaplex.

Within the trunk are fiber-optic cables that connect to The Storyteller, which gives out instructions to the animatronics and electronics. Despite Edwin’s interest in seeing these, he is not allowed inside the tree. When Edwin confronts Mr. Burrows about this, Mr. Burrows explains only certain people are allowed inside. Edwin begins scavenging around for memos and discovers that the larger parts of The Storyteller were going to be transferred into the tree trunk late one night, so one Thursday night Edwin sneaks into the Pizzaplex through the loading dock and hides in Monty’s Gator Golf. The sight of what’s being carried into the tree causes Edwin to have a panic attack over a brutal event from his past. He comes back to his senses and continues to watch three men carrying a large, animatronic tiger head into the tree.

The security team makes Mr. Burrows aware of Edwin’s actions and he looks over the security footage on his Queen Anne credenza. Mr. Burrows doesn’t view Edwin as an immediate issue, but he makes a mental note to keep on top of him in case he becomes one. The next day, Edwin confronts Mr. Burrows and demands to know what program was being used to create The Storyteller’s stories. Mr. Burrows claims it’s just a simple template-style software that takes pieces from previous stories and rearranges them for new scenarios for VR, AR, and arcade games. Edwin isn’t satisfied with the answer and decides to figure out a way to see The Storyteller’s programming specs.

By the time The Storyteller goes online, Edwin has failed to get a look at its programming. A “Birth Party” is thrown for The Storyteller going online, and while this is happening Edwin investigates the effects The Storyteller is having on the animatronics. He discovers that Roxanne Wolf’s teasing has turned cruel, Glamrock Chica’s previously gluttonous nature is replaced with an obsession for attention, Mr. Cupcake has become more aggressive, and Montgomery Gator has turned violent. All other animatronics experience a similar shift, although none are really dramatic enough to cause immediate concern for Mr. Burrows. Soon after, strange malfunctions start affecting the Pizzaplex. Edwin decides he needs to get inside The Storyteller’s tree in order to figure out what’s going on and fix it, however he cannot get the door to open.

Since night security is more relaxed and the Pizzaplex closes late on weekends, Edwin waits until Monday night to sneak in. In the meantime, he visits a Fazbear archives building and discovers that the door can only be opened using a hidden palm scanner that only accepts Mr. Burrows’ and two others’ palms. However, stored within the network of rollercoaster tracks and maintenance stairs is an extendable catwalk that allows maintenance access to the tree. Once inside, Edwin sees the tiger head acting as The Storyteller; it has a green and a blue eye, a bust mounted on the trunk’s walls, and four arms emerging from its neck. He begins to have a panic attack but calms himself down and finds a compact computer terminal in a small inset. Although password protected, Edwin can see a program called Mimic1 being run. Edwin’s worst fears are confirmed as he realizes that “It was happening again.”

Edwin sneaks into The Storyteller’s tree for another five nights, resulting in him losing more sleep. One morning he looks back on how he lost his wife in childbirth. Edwin’s trauma is also linked to his son, but the story remains vague. On Saturday, Mr. Burrows takes time away from a regatta after numerous reports of issues with the Pizzapex shows and the animatronics in Monty’s Gator Golf, Roxy Raceway, Fazer Blast, and Bonnie Bowl. One of Mr. Burrow’s advisers suggests the problem is The Storyteller, but Mr. Burrows is sure Edwin is to blame, so he waits in the dining room to catch him. When nothing happens, he goes to Glamrock Freddy’s greenroom where he finds the bear fighting over a vintage Freddy plush with a little girl. Before Mr. Burrows can step in, Glamrock Freddy gives up and cries in the corner. Mr. Burrow leaves and accidently trips on a toddler, landing face up. Looking at the tree’s branches, Mr. Burrows realizes how Edwin’s getting in.

By the following Tuesday, Mr. Burrows has a control pad installed into his credenza that gives him command of all the tree’s mechanisms. That night, when Edwin sneaks into the tree, Mr. Burrows locks him in. The tree is designed to be airtight with no venting system, so whatever oxygen is in the tree already is all that’s available. Mr. Burrows spends the rest of the week and weekend paranoid over his actions and questioning why Edwin isn’t trying to escape. After a full week has passed, Mr. Burrows begins to suspect that Edwin is getting in and out of the tree with another method, so he enters the tree and finds the walls covered in construction paper with strange symbols, as well as "I'm sorry."[1] He also finds Edwin dead with a crayon in his hand and covered with blank construction paper, only managing to write "I'm sorry" and a few stick figures.

Mr. Burrows tries to leave the tree but the scanner isn’t working. He remembers that the control pad in his credenza overrode every function in the tree, leaving him trapped as well. He tries breaking the door down and screaming for help, but nothing works. Mr. Burrows then unplugs the cables from The Storyteller, hoping that it will cause the attractions to malfunction and draw attention to his location, yet The Storyteller stays on. Mr. Burrows rips off its limbs and punches its head to try to turn it off, but to no avail. Running out of oxygen, Mr. Burrows goes to The Storyteller’s control keypad, but it says his password failed. Mr. Burrows refuses to accept defeat and screams for help, hoping that someone will come along to rescue him.

Speculation[]

"I was the first! I have seen everything!"

This section archives a lot of theories and speculation, which usually occurs from pre-release media, or just things that are still unknown, so please keep that in mind while reading. The page will continue to be updated with the most accurate information as more solid evidence is supplied.

TFTP7TIGERROCKCOVER
  • The white tiger animatronic with a green and blue eye perfectly matches the animatronic on the cover of Tales from the Pizzaplex #7: Tiger Rock.
    • This suggests that this is Tiger Rock's physical body.
  • In the story the Storyteller is running program Mimic1, the same program inside Mimic itself, this means that this story is connected to the epilogues.
  • This story serves as a sequel to The Mimic, and prequel to Tiger Rock.

Trivia[]

  • Oddly, Glamrock Chica is described as being yellow.[2] She carries Mr. Cupcake.
  • There is an error between The Storyteller and The Mimic in regards to when Edwin's company was bought out: the former states 30 years while the latter occurs 40 years prior.

Triangles within triangles. Mathematical equations, nonsensical ones from what Mr. Burrows could tell, were tangled up in the symbols. And written over the top of all this, on nearly every sheet of construction paper, were two words: 'I'm sorry.'"
