Miss Lauren[]
Miss Lauren is Tyler's day care teacher. She's young with curly brown hair. Miss Lauren is cheerful and lively. At the daycare, she helps the kids learn to say "please" and "thank you." One day, Miss Lauren asks the kids to draw pictures of their families and talk about them. When Noah notices that Tyler doesn't have a mother, she explains to him and the rest of the class that not all kids have a mother and father and tells them what different kinds of families look like. Miss Lauren tells Robert about what happened, and while Robert hates having his broken family being used as a "teachable moment" he can't stay mad at the bright-eyed and idealistic teacher. She explains that she thought Robert should know in case he wanted to speak more about it with Tyler at home. The next day, when Tyler comes to day care with Tag-Along Freddy, Miss Lauren decides to make an exception to her policy against bring toys from home.
Noah[]
Noah is Tyler's friend. When he notices Tyler doesn't have a mother in his drawing, he asks him about it which unintentionally makes Tyler a little upset.
Detective Ramirez[]
Detective Ramirez is a police officer that is in constant contact with Robert. She's a young woman with dark hair. When she asks Robert questions, he notices her demeanor is professional, but her voice reveals her genuine concern. She asks when he last saw Tyler, if he saw the white van's license plate number, and if Tyler's mother lives with him. When Robert reveals she died in childbirth, Officer Ramirez gives her condolences and asks for Tyler's physical description. Robert gets upset when Officer Cook says they'll only send an Amber Alert out if they feel Tyler is in danger, and Officer Ramirez pats him arm and assures him that they'll do everything in their power to find Tyler.
At 5:00 p.m., Detective Ramirez calls Robert and tells him that there's officers out all over the city looking for Tyler. She also explains they going to use a dog with a tremendous track record when it comes to locating missing persons and asks Robert for some piece of clothing belonging to Tyler, such as an unwashed shirt from the laundry hamper, that they could give to the dog to sniff. Robert lets Detective Ramirez come by and get it. When she arrives, Robert's eyes are red and swollen. Detective Ramirez promises that they'll do all they can to find Tyler and suggests Robert get some rest. Later, she calls again to check on Robert. Detective Ramirez tells Robert that the dog has Tyler's scent now, and also have the tag numbers of every white van in the metro area which they're checking to see if any owners have a history of criminal activity. She'll call again in the morning, and tells Robert to stay close to his phone, get some rest, pray if he's the praying sort, and stay hopeful.
Officer Cook[]
Officer Cook is a police officer that quickly arrives at Robert's house once Tyler goes missing. He's an older man with salt-and-pepper hair. When Robert reports Tyler missing, Officer Cook asks if he simply ran inside and hid somewhere, which has happened a ton in his past experience. When Robert asks what they'll do to find him, Officer Cook assures him that a missing child isn't something they take lightly, and they'll scour the entire area. He says they'll get any info about the van, and they'll keep in touch, telling Robert to stay home with his phone close by. Robert asks about sending out an Amber Alert, and Officer Cook explains they'll send one out if they don't immediately find Tyler and if they feel he's in any danger.
Unnamed Neighbor[]
Am unnamed neighbor that Robert cannot remember the name of. As Robert's heading towards the Cliffs, he sees the neighbor on his morning run. He slows down and asks if they've Tyler, and when Robert shakes his head no the neighbor assumes he's fine and tells Robert to let him know if he needs anything.
