List of Minor Characters[]
Ms. Billings[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Bill (disambiguation).
Ms. Billings is the head of the robotic class. She's small and compact with long, wavy blonde hair, pale skin, cool blue eyes, and a plain face that's generally devoid of emotions. Ms. Billings also wears conservative pantsuits. She has jerky, precise movements that make many kids in the class jokingly debate if she's an advanced robot herself. Pickle is convinced Ms. Billings an android and made plans to prove his hypothesis, but Shelly won't let Pickle do them since they involve cutting into Ms. Billings.
Ms. Billings introduces the concept of exoskeletons to the class, explaining them as crude frames that can be attached to other things for added mobility, which can be expanded upon if the frames' power sources add enough functionality to control the wearer. This majorly inspires Julius to make his spring semester project an exosuit, but one day he discovers that Pickle's remote controls the exosuit and complains about it to Ms. Billings. She has Pickle explain his reasoning for using an RF remote, and when Pickle and Julius begin arguing Ms. Billings silences the class by pressing a button on her own remote, which activates at least a dozen robotic creations in the classroom. She then tells Julius that Pickle makes some good points, and suggests he finds way to change his design instead of having Pickle change his.
Ms. Billings then moves on to discussing actuators, knowing some kids in the class are having issues understanding them. When Shelly correctly explains the four common types, Ms. Billings activates a small spider-shaped skeleton to add a light-bulb shaped sticker on a chart with the students names one them. Reed zones out of the conversation as Ms. Billings activates more robots to demonstrate the four actuators, such as a exoskeleton vaguely shaped like a horse meant to demonstrate a hydraulic actuator. When Ms. Billings dismisses the class, she goes to gather a stack of books to leave the room and completely misses Julius tripping Pickle.
Leah[]
Leah is a one of Reed's classmates. She's curvy with round glasses. Reed has admired Leah for most of the school year, finding her happy demeanor and self-confidence to be unshakeable. When looking around the classroom to see if anyone else was enjoying Julius's embarrassment, Reed gazes at Leah and she winks back. Reed smiles at her.
Mr. Janson[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Jan (disambiguation).
Mr. Janson is the bus driver. He has gray hair. Mr. Janson is always looking out for Reed to make sure he doesn't miss the bus. After locking Julius in his exosuit, Reed frantically waves his arms around and shouts for him to stop the bus right as it begins to pull away from the curb. Mr. Janson shakes his head and winks, telling Reed he's cutting it close. Reed apologizes and Mr. Janson tells him that life happens and people adjust, then smiles and has him take his seat.
Unnamed Classmates[]
There are thirteen unnamed freshmen in the robotics class, bringing the total amount of freshmen to eighteen. With the exception of Julius, who is an odd combination of jock, brain, and bully, the rest of the students are said to look rather geeky. Majority of the students have glasses, bad haircuts, and mismatched clothes.
