Temperature is a scale gauge expressing hot and cold, used for few Five Nights at Freddy's games.
The temperature is featured for the night-shift gameplay while warding off the salvaged animatronics, located at the bottom right side of the screen. The player begins with the lowest 60°F, and no harm will be caused. During the shift, the temperature has to be closely monitored, as it is affected by turning on or off the ventilation system. If the ventilation system is turned off, the temperature will roughly increase at random intervals, every 0.5 to 3 seconds. When the temperature reaches 100°F, the temperature percent text will turn red and blink, giving a warning cue that the Office is slowly becoming overheated. If it reaches 120°F, the player will pass out and be sent back to the main menu, similar to the way of dying. This is the only way to cause a game over without getting killed by any of the animatronics.
In the Completion Ending, as Henry discusses everything behind the pizzeria and animatronics, the temperature is seen slowly rising without the ventilation system activated. The temperature continues to rise higher after 120°F to cause the facility to burn by such scorching heat (judging by the orange particle effects rising from the bottom). The temperature stops at 179°F, just as Henry finishes his final speech.
The temperature functions similarly to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, starting at 60° and maxing out at 120°. However, the player will not pass out at 120° like from the previous game. As the heat increases, it will activate or trigger certain heat-attracting animatronics (Freddy Fazbear, Jack-O-Chica, etc). The Frigid power-up can be used to start the night at 50°. The temperature is effected by the power status of the desk fan, as well as the A/C unit and Heater.
