“A strange mask left behind by some Faz-Technician” |
The Security Mask is an advanced headset that allows the wearer to interface with the Virtual Augmented Neural Network Integration unit, or V.A.N.N.I., usually used by Class V technicians. Cassie was given the mask by Mask Bot during her journey into the Pizzaplex to find Gregory.
Appearance[]
The outer part of the mask looks similar to the secret mask obtained from the Curse of Dreadbear minigame, Corn Maze. The inner part of the mask has many different wires and pieces of technology inside it, noticeably used to see through the AR World.
Functionality[]
By equipping the Security Mask, Cassie is able to view the AR World and access many of the security nodes inside of it. This also comes with the benefit of being able to see the dark areas around her more clearly. Additionally, the mask can allow Cassie to pass through certain solid objects in the real world or cross AR-only bridges which allows her to access locations that were otherwise inaccessible in the real world.
While wearing the mask, Cassie is also invisible to Glamrock Endos. She is also able to deactivate Caution Bots using the mask to unlock a secret room in Bonnie Bowl should all 27 bots be deactivated before that point.
Along with the usual Prize Boxes, which cannot be seen while wearing the mask, there are AR Prize Boxes that can only be seen while using the mask that contain similar digital trinkets.
To make wearing the mask all the time unappealing, The Entity will appear if the player uses the mask for a prolonged period of time. Once it appears, it will cause a static effect in the player's vision and, if The Entity gets too close, they will get stuck wearing the mask until they can put some distance between it and them. Staying too close to The Entity will summon an animatronic to attack the player.
Various areas around the ruined Pizzaplex can also prevent the player from using or removing the mask. While most areas like this are left unexplained as to why the mask cannot be toggled, some areas have an AR Jammer which must be deactivated before mask toggling can be re-enabled.
Trivia[]
- In both RUIN and Help Wanted 2, careful examination of the in-game maps via hacking reveals that in order to achieve the effect of their environment changing when putting the mask on and taking it off, the player is actually teleported between two different maps stored in the same file, one for the regular world, and one for the AR world. The maps are stacked vertically, which will teleport the player up or down to the other map.
