Origami Cat is a character who made a minor appearance in Five Nights at Candy's, and later in Five Nights at Candy's 3 with a major role.
Physical Appearance[]
Origami Cat first appears within Five Nights at Candy's: Remastered as a sheet of paper shaped into a cat-like figure with triangle ears, a pointy nose, and bent tail.
Origami Cat then makes an appearance within Five Nights at Candy's 3, specifically within the Dreamscape and the Forgotten Ending. The cat is covered in shadows, with their two dim, purple eyes with their eye shining a dim light, showcasing their eye sockets. They also seem to be in a clean condition, as before Origami Cat opens their eyes, a white reflection can be seen within the eyelids.
Personality[]
During the events of FNaC3, the Origami Cat is very helpful and knowledgeable of the Dreamscape, Deepscape, and Monster Animatronics. Throughout the minigames before starting each night, they attempt to assist in any way they can. They teach Mary Schmidt about the Dreamscape/Deepscape and how to defend herself against the various monster animatronics. It is also mentioned that the Origami Cat had known Mary for a long time, as they were one of her toys.
However, if Mary chooses to repeatedly knock over the Origami Cat in the night gameplay, their personality slowly changes. After the first time Mary does it, they tell Mary that they forgive her and ask her to be more careful next time. If Mary then does it a second time, the Origami Cat tells her that they are just trying to help her. If Mary then does it a third time, the Origami Cat tells Mary that they don't understand why she's doing this and asks her why she doesn't want them here before pleading for her to stop.
If Mary does it a fourth time, the Forgotten Ending will occur and the Origami Cat will get angry with Mary. They state that they had just wanted to help, but Mary had turned them into one of them. They remind Mary that they were her final memory of her mother, who helped make the Origami Cat with Mary. They then say that them existing only brought Mary sorrow and that their unwanted memories would prevent her from discovering the truth. They then come up with a "solution" to this problem by preventing her from sleeping and therefore having nightmares. They then say that they will become a hidden memory in the back of Mary's mind, and admitting that although they can't help her stay awake forever, they can prevent her from doing so whenever she closes her eyes, where she will be staring right back into theirs.
Role[]
Five Nights at Candy's[]
The Origami Cat is just an easter egg in the original Five Nights at Candy's, as they have a chance to randomly appear in the Arcade, Backstage 1, or or Parts & Services areas. They can also be seen in the background of the 7/20 completion screen.
In the Remastered version of the game, however, they serve a more important purpose in the hidden Night Null. They are located on the desk at all times throughout the night until Shadow Candy jumpscares the player, freezing time (along with setting it one hour back) and causing the player to lose a significant amount of power. The Origami Cat then must be found on any one of the cameras. By clicking on it, the Origami Cat will return to the desk and all of the effects of Shadow Candy's jumpscare will be reverted.
Five Nights at Candy's 3[]
The Origami Cat plays a large role in the Five Nights at Candy's 3 Deepscape/Dreamscape minigames and the Forgotten Ending. Throughout the Deepscape/Dreamscape minigames, they will guide the player through the game's mechanics and teach them how to navigate the Dreamscape. On every night after the first night, the player can return to the Origami Cat to get more advice and tips, but it is not necessary to visit them.
In the normal gameplay, the Origami Cat appears on a small table between the wardrobe and closet. Clicking on the Origami Cat several times will result in them falling over. This will also slightly change the dialogue with them on the next night if the player chooses to speak with them.]
If the player does this on each night, then after completing Night 5, the forgotten ending will occur, where a real, animatronic version of the Origami Cat partially appears and talks to Mary.
