Mr. Thornton is a major character in Together Forever, the third story in Fazbear Frights 10: Friendly Face.
Physical Appearance[]
Mr. Thornton is a short man in his twenties with birdlike features, such as beady eyes, a pointed nose, and fine brown hair. He always wears vests and thick, black-rimmed glasses. For most of the story, Mr. Thornton wears a red-and-gold diamond-patterned sweater vest that hangs loosely over his narrow chest.
Personality[]
Mr. Thornton is considered geeky and nerdy. He has trouble keeping eye contact, never facing straight at the class and focusing his gaze a foot above people's heads. Jessica finds this behavior endearing in a loveable-nerd kind of way. Mr. Thornton also frequently leaves his sentences unfinished and rarely laughs.
History[]
Mr. Thornton is the robotics teacher at the high school Jessica and Brittany attend. When Brittany took notice of his habit of leaving sentences unfinished, she had jokingly suggested that he might be an animatronic with advanced programming and a minor glitch that prevented him from completing sentences. A few weeks before the homecoming dance, eight graders Mindy and Cindy joined Mr. Thornton's class due to their gifted knowledge of robotics.
A shipment for a new project arrives three days before the homecoming dance, and Mr. Thornton reveals to the class a cart full of vintage animatronics. He explains that none of them currently function, but they can be. Mr. Thornton instructs the class to partner up and complete two jobs. The first is to fix whatever issue the animatronic has in order for it to function, and the second is to program it so it performs a specific task that will either be demonstrated in class or videotaped. Each animatronic has a different issue to be taught, and Mr. Thornton starts with a dog that has a bad servo. Mindy and Cindy answer both questions he asks regarding how servos work and what issues they may have, which results in them getting the dog animatronic as their project. When Jessica agrees to work on a servo issues, Mr. Thornton introduces the class to Rosie Porkchop, an animatronic that has a pneumatic system which allows her to lift more weight than the rest. She has a lot of pressure pumping through her lines, but there's an issue with her programming. Her weight means whoever works on her needs to come in during the evenings, and he assigns Rosie to Jessica and Brittany.
When Jessica and Brittany arrive to class that evening, Mr. Thornton explains that he assigned Rosie to a team he could trust to stay after-hours so he could get administrative approval for them to be in the class. As the two girls are touching up their lips with lip gloss, Mr. Thornton gives them some specs that came with Rosie. He advises looking over them, as Rosie isn't the typical animatronic thanks to an important characteristic that's important for the girls. Jessica later learns this is the spring locks in the suit which allows Rosie to swap between an animatronic and a suit mode. Mr. Thornton then turns his attention to Mindy and Cindy, who had just entered the classroom with their dog animatronic. The two chatter for a bit before Mr. Thornton turns his attention to his laptop, not picking up on the plans Jessica and Brittany were devising to humiliate the eight graders. Once the two girls begin downloading Rosie's code to their laptop, they ask Mr. Thornton for the after-hours key so they can return later. As they leave he tells them "good-bye," which Brittany finds odd as it sounds rather final.
That night, Mr. Thornton finds an article about the old spring lock suits. He learns that they were taken out of commission since they were deemed too dangerous for use thanks to a glitch in the programming that automatically switched modes. He returns to class the next day and finds Mindy and Cindy there early, as usual, with Rosie Porkchop carrying their backpacks. Mr. Thornton asks if they traded projects with Jessica and Brittany, and when he's told yes he praises them for their results and having "tamed the monster." He then checks flips to switch on Rosie's neck to change her mode, and when nothing happens he tries to open her stomach. When that doesn't work, he concludes the spring locks have been deactivated. He explains to Mindy and Cindy the article he discovered the once again praises them for having made her safe.
