History[]
One day, Sarah accidently bumps into Mason at school as she's trying to desperately leave the cafeteria, dumping the remains of her salad on his expensive, crisp white designer shirt. He looks annoyed tells Sarah to watch where she's going as he picks a cucumber slice off his shirt, leaving a perfect oily circle in the middle of his chest. Sarah apologies and throws the rest of her food away, running out the cafeteria.
A few days later, Sarah bumps into Mason again when trying to listen in on a conversation a trio of boys were having about her. This time, Mason smiles and jokingly remarks that they need to stop bumping into each other. He says the previous time with the salad was funny, which Sarah finds odd. Sarah then properly introduces herself and Mason tells her he'll see her around.
The next day, Lydia tells Mason about Sarah's crush on him. After school, Mason follows Sarah as she's walking towards the bus stop and reveals that Lydia spoke to him, then invites her to the Brown Cow to get ice cream cones. At the Brown Cow, Mason offers to pay for Sarah's ice cream. While Mason eats his more enthusiastically, Sarah takes small licks and comments on how long it's been since she's had ice cream. Mason asks if she's watching her weight and tells her not to worry about it since she looks great. He then adds that he doesn't know how he's only now noticing her the way she should have when she's been going to the school for a while. He comments that he needs to pay better attention, and Sarah jokes that she does too so she doesn't bump into more people with salad, which makes Mason laugh. Mason offers to take Sarah home, but she remembers his parents' high paying jobs and feels embarrassed, so she walks home alone. Mason is disappointed and offers to take her on a date later.
On Saturday, Sarah meets Mason in front of the Pizza Palazzo's hostess's station. He asks Sarah what type of pizza she wants and she tells him she's a flexible pizza person, with pineapple pizza being the exception. Mason laughs and agrees, jokingly saying it should be illegal and people who eat pineapple on pizza deserve to be alone. The two agree on a thin-crust pepperoni and mushroom pizza, then chat about their families and hobbies. They then walk next door to the movie theater, and during the movie Mason reaches over and takes her hand. Mason invites her to a basketball game the next week, and while Sarah is excited to go just to be with him, their second date never ends up happening.
