Now I've really done it. I thought to myself, as I sat in the darkness. No power, no lights, nothing. No danger, no worries, no fun. Just me, alone in the dark. All I can do now is wait it out. And think about what I've done.
Mary Schmidt, Five Nights at Candy's

Mary Schmidt is the main protagonist of Five Nights at Candy's, and later, Five Nights at Candy's 3. She is mentioned in myPOPGOES.

Physical Appearance[]

As a child, Mary had fair skin and black hair tied up in bunches; she was also seen with brown hair in a Five Nights at Candy's 2 secret minigame, but according to Emil Macko, she has dark brown hair.[1][2] She wore a black dress with suspenders, a green undershirt and pantlegs, and black shoes. Her specific appearance as an adult is unknown. However, it is visibly shown that she has a ponytail. Mary has freckles.[3]

Personality[]

As a child, Mary Schmidt witnessed the deaths of the Rat & Cat Theater Actors and became traumatized as a result. She became very introverted and quiet, which resulted in her beginning meetings with a doctor. Trauma from the incident forced her to block out her memories subconsciously, preventing her from recalling the event. As she dealt with the Monster Animatronics that haunted her at night, she eventually remembered the incident and later became an average happy child. As a child, she was also very close to her mother, who passed away when she was young. The Origami Cat was Mary's final memory of her.

As an adult, Mary has become interested in the paranormal events surrounding Candy's Burgers & Fries, which results in her accepting a security position at nighttime in order to investigate the disappearances of children at the location. At some point, she had a child named Marylin Schmidt, whom she became very close with.

Speculation[]

"I was the first! I have seen everything!"

This section archives a lot of theories and speculation, which usually occurs from pre-release media, or just things that are still unknown, so please keep that in mind while reading. The page will continue to be updated with the most accurate information as more solid evidence is supplied.

  • Mary has the same last name as Mike Schmidt, which generated speculation about them being related in some way.
    • The most popular was that Mike is her brother. However, Emil Macko has confirmed that they are unrelated.[4]
    • The second is that they are married. This is also unlikely, as Emil has stated that the Schmidt name's importance and similarity to Mike Schmidt has been retconned.
