Maria Rodriguez is a character that appears in Step Closer, the first story in the book of the same name.
She's was a cheerleader at Pete's high school and known Pete ever since sixth grade.
She has black hair and lips that were glossy red. She also has bright green eyes with long eyelashes and a few freckles on her nose.
She comes across Pete at Freddy's. They started talking about how they're both stuck with their youngest siblings and that they used to be just like them. She later questions Pete on why he doesn't come to football practice, with him responding that he just quit. As Maria was about to leave, she invited Pete to meet up under an old bridge with a crew of friends. Pete rejected as he has to take care of his younger brother, Chuck.
She later appears at the homecoming carnival at her high school. At the carnival, Maria decides to prank Pete with a hand-sized fingertrap, disguised in a box. She felt guilty that the prank numbs Pete's hand as he got it out, as it sucked and hurt his hand badly.
