History[]
Maliah grew up with an abusive father who would hit her every chance he got and mocked her Hawaiian name. Once she got in a relationship, her partner continued to treat her the same way her father did. Maliah would continue to enter relationships with abusive partners until one day coming across Billy on an online chat room for people unhappy with their bodies. She tells Billy about her past and tells him that she wants a liposuction, cheek sculpting, and a nose job to match who she feels she is on the inside: a beach babe. After chatting with Billy, she asks to come over and visit, which Billy agrees to.
Maliah begins to question her decision to meet a random guy she met online, but still drives to Billy's house and rings the doorbell. Upon seeing that Billy's arms are prosthetic, Maliah begins to feel sorry for him. She decides that he needs someone to accept him for who he is, and is happy to see Billy smile at her. Billy explains how only eats white food and that he had his limbs replaced, and Maliah finds Billy to be very brave. She likes that he treats her with respect and spends the next two hours happily eating white cake and milk in his clean and tidy home. Despite Billy's android-like voice and his lack of limbs making him pitch and reel when he walks, Maliah is happy to have found someone that listens when she talks, who is obviously well-read and is interesting to talk with, and is very kind and nice to her.
Maliah continues to visit Billy as time goes by. On her third visit, she asks if Billy sees her as just his friend or if she's his girlfriend. When Billy answers with the latter, she smiles and gives him a kiss. After Billy has metal plates implanted under his cheeks, Maliah visits and she's disappointed to see his new face. She also notices that the scars left behind are red, so she quickly enters the kitchen and gets some water to help clean the incisions. After this, Maliah's visits become less frequent, but they still talk to each other on the phone nearly every day. When Billy has the whites of his eyes dyed black he invites Maliah over again, and while she misses his big brown eyes she finds his new ones to be somewhat cool and vampirish. Maliah's next visit comes the day after he has his tongue removed. She gasps when Billy shows her, and when Billy explains that he finds using a vocal synthesizer far preferable she runs out of the house in tears.
The next day, Maliah calls and apologizes for having ran away. Billy accepts the apology, telling her that all humans are limited in their understanding and it's not her fault. When Billy informs Maliah that he plans to have the cartilage of his ears removed she lets out a shriek and asks why, telling him he has nice ears. When Billy tells her that ears are inconsistent to what he is, she goes quiet before telling him to call her once done. He does, having her visit the next day. Maliah doesn't like how his head looks, but figures that it won't be noticeable once his hair grows back around them. Billy then tells Maliah that he wants her to shave his head after the incisions heal. Maliah walks to the opposite side of the room and stares at Billy. She asks if Billy would be done after that, and when Billy tells her he still has unnecessary parts to remove she leaves. Maliah doesn't visit Billy again after this, and when Billy calls to tell her that he would now like to be called B-7 she immediately hangs up. They stop communicating afterwards, with Billy's last call to her being an invitation to his twenty-first birthday, which he calls his sixteenth creation day. Maliah tells Billy that she's busy and hangs up.
