Plot[]
15-year-old Alec has spent the first five years of his life ignoring what people consider "good" and "bad" and living by his own rules. When his sister, Hazel, came along, Alec began to face criticism from his parents regarding his behavior. He's good at eavesdropping, which is how he's learned about his parent's recent plan. Hazel's birthday is next weekend, and instead of talking to Alec, his parents are relying on a book to "fix" his behavior, which they always do. Alec comes across Hazel, who he hates the most. Alec believes that Hazel is pretending to be innocent and nice, and she's actually a spoiled brat. That night, Hazel sneaks into Alec's room and gives him The Plan Planner, which has notes on his parent's plan. Alec concludes this is a trick by Hazel, so he decides to play along.
Chapter 5 argues to treat a child poorly in order to get a well-behaved, predictable child. Alec wants Hazel to show her true colors, so the next day he tells her that he'll just act significantly worse. Hazel comes up with a new plan: If Alec were to act a little bit better while she acts worse, it will neutralize the attention and get their parents to leave them alone. Alec agrees to do it but still doesn't trust Hazel. They put their plan to the test and it goes well, even causing their parents to argue after two days of their plan. Alec decides that tomorrow, at the pizzeria, he'll figure out what Hazel's plan is, and he catches himself smiling over enjoying her company.
It's Wednesday, meaning that they need to go to Freddy Fazbear's Family Pizzeria. While their mother and aunt discuss the details with a Party Prepper, Alec and Hazel wander the empty pizzeria. Deep down, Alec has always wanted his own birthday party at Freddy Fazbear's, but he never had friends to justify it. His favorite character is Yarg Foxy, who plays different roles in different Freddy locations. Hazel has caught notice of this, which embarrasses Alec. Alec bumps into a Lonely Freddy and it creeps him out, but they're called back to the party room. Their mother asks Hazel if she wants to go in the Wind Tunnel, as it'll give her a chance to win a Yarg Foxy plush, and when Hazel's face goes red Alec thinks he's figured out her plan. When Aunt Gigi asks about Lonely Freddys, the Party Prepper does a demo, revealing that it's designed to have conversations with lonely kids. After the demonstration, Alec tells Hazel to do the Wind Tunnel and it's added to the list.
Back at home, their mother finally breaks and Alec takes his usual spot on the stairs to eavesdrop. Aunt Gigi notices The Plan Planner and tells her younger sister that maybe using the books was wrong, but she ignores Gigi and claims she just wants a normal family. With that, Alec returns to his room. Now fully convinced that he's figured Hazel out, his Counter-Counterplan is beginning to form, and it all revolves around her special day. They continue to torment their parents until Hazel's birthday Saturday morning, where Alec is thrilled to be nearly done with all of his planning.
At Freddy's, Alec sneaks away to the Wind Tunnel and collects the only Yarg Foxy ticket. But with nearly an hour left before the party starts to wind down, Hazel has refused to go into the Wind Tunnel. Alec confronts her about it, which makes her cry, and she eventually caves. Just when everyone thinks she didn't get the Yarg Foxy ticket, a kid notices one last ticket in Hazel's hair. Alec's plan falls apart when he too spots the Yarg Foxy ticket in Hazel's hair, and he remembers that there were leftover tickets in the Wind Tunnel that he didn't bother to check. Hazel disappears into a back room for a while before returning to the party, and she reveals to Alec that she was only pretending to be bad just so Alec could like her, and she won the Yarg Foxy plush to give to him.
Alec is infuriated. His plan was for Hazel to miss out on the fox, throw a massive tantrum that he was sure she was storing up all weak, and expose her for the spoiled brat she really was. With his plan completely destroyed by Hazel's kindness, Alec throws a massive tantrum and rips the fox out of her hands, tearing its arm. When Hazel starts to cry, he runs away until he's far enough away and begins to break down crying. Alec finds a door and hears loud thumping behind it. It's a storage room, and he sits down to cry more, thinking back to all the happy times his sister had and how he ruined her birthday. He throws the Yarg Foxy plush into a pile of toys, and as he's looking for it the thumping comes back. Alec finds a dumpster and when he approaches it the box violently shakes and he stumbles back into a Lonely Freddy bear.
The Lonely Freddy suddenly activates and Alec finds himself unable to stand up or look away. It starts asking him simple questions about himself, and Alec answers them truthfully. Then, the questions take a turn and get more personal, ending by asking Alec what his biggest regret is. When Alec tells the bear that it's hurting Hazel, the bear's eyes turn light green and Alec is unable to move or speak. He hears his mother and Hazel, and they enter the room when they hear the giant bin thumping. They find the Yarg Foxy plush but don't see Alec, and he listens as Hazel starts to cry over Alec's outburst and his mother trying to comfort her. When they leave, Alec slowly begins to regain control of his body. He notices that the Lonely Freddy is gone, but focuses on moving.
Once Alec is fully in control again, he heads towards the door of the room but everything seems oddly bigger. He runs to the party room where a kid grabs his arm and another grabs his leg and they fight over him until they drop him. Someone with a stroller comes along and pushes him away, calling him a "thing." When he gets to his family he sees another Alec sitting with them. One of Hazel's friends pukes on him, and their father goes to get a staff member as everyone else helps the girl. He's thrown into a bucket and sees the fake Alec winks at him. They make a quick stop to the men's room and Alec then sees himself in a mirror, where it's revealed that he's trapped inside the Lonely Freddy. The employee decides to throw Alec away in the dumpster from earlier, which has dozens of Lonely Freddys inside. Alec screams, but soon realizes that the screams aren't only coming from him–they're coming from the other Lonely Freddys too.
Speculation[]

"I was the first! I have seen everything!"
This section archives a lot of theories and speculation, which usually occurs from pre-release media, or just things that are still unknown, so please keep that in mind while reading. The page will continue to be updated with the most accurate information as more solid evidence is supplied. |
- The Lonely Freddy asks Alec questions about himself that get increasingly personal and emotionally charged. This seems to imply that the soul-swapping abilities of the Lonely Freddys are some form of Remnant-capturing technology, as it's explained in the Stitchwraith Stingers that Remnant is brought upon by powerful emotions and memories. This theory is mentioned in The Ultimate Guide, although it offers no explanation for how the Lonely Freddy animatronics function.
Trivia[]
- Despite Hazel having a large group of friends, only a few are named during her party at Freddy Fazbear's Family Pizzeria, with Charlotte being the most prominent.
- Unlike most of the Fazbear Frights stories where the animatronics targets one particular person or group of people, the Lonely Freddys have stolen the souls of many other children, with several of them wandering around in the outside world within human bodies. This makes this the first story where the crisis is widespread rather than being exclusive to the main protagonist.
- The teaser illustration was originally going to be used in the book, but the illustrations for the whole series were scrapped. It was later used again in The Ultimate Guide.
- This was also the last teaser illustration.
- The illustration also has some inaccuracies to the text, with the Yarg Foxy plush being replaced with a random doll and Alec having brown hair despite being described to have blond hair.
- Alec compares a camping trip that devolved into chaos to Lord of the Flies. Later, Alec angrily rants to his family, comparing his rage to a scene from The Exorcist where Regan spins her head on her neck.
- Alec's mother attempts to use a coupon for the party called "Foxy's Pirate Palooza". This coupon appears in The Survival Logbook.
