Janice is a recurring character in Lally's Game, the first story of Tales from the Pizzaplex 1: Lally's Game. She is the mother of Cade, the now husband of Selena.
Appearance[]
Janice is a elder lady much shorter than Cade's 6'2 height, having round shoulder and a soft belly. She has greying back hair that she put into a bob, with a heart-shaped face with the same deep-set green eyes as Cades and wrinkles-smile lines around her eyes and mouth that "added to her pleasant face".
While Selena is staying with her, she wears a powder-blue pantsuit. When Selena returns to her house after being stalked by Lally, she wore a yellow and green floral patterned blouse with a ruffled pastel-pink apron as well as yellow polyester pants and brown flats.
Personality[]
Janice is described as being a sweet person, treating Selena like her own daughter whenever she's around, even giving her the house keys during their wedding so she could come into her house as she pleases. She was also considered a social butterfly, attending "seemingly endless" amounts of clubs and committees.[2] She is also very understanding, never prying into someone's personal struggles without reason.[3]
She often reminisces on Cade's childhood, and is very loving towards him and Selena whenever they visit. However, she sometimes forgets or glazes over more disturbing parts of his past, such as the incident with Lally and Daniel; once it's mentioned, she will quickly move on. Selena says that she tends "to drift in and out of conversations at will."
Janice loves to bake and cook, and spends a lot of time teaching Selena her recipes. Unlike her first daughter-in-law, her house is very cluttered with "ceramic figurines, doilies, and overstuffed furniture." She says that due to her age, she sometimes gets dizzy and walks into walls.
