PhoneGuy UCN "Uh, I think the name was... Illusion Discs or something like that."

Illusion Discs has not been given an official name; as such, this name is purely conjectural. However, it will be used until an official name is released.

It's not like the other mascots from Freddy's. These aren't made of fur and fabric, they're made of us—by twisting our minds. You shot the chip. You killed the illusion.
Charlie, Five Nights at Freddy's: The Twisted Ones

Illusion Discs are items that appear in the Five Nights at Freddy's novel series.

Description[]

The illusion discs are described as flat discs, about the size of a half-dollar coin. One that was removed from a twisted animatronic had "Afton Robotics, LLC" written in tiny letters on the side in an "old-fashioned, flowing script".

The discs employ five high-pitched frequencies that constantly change. The noise is only detected by the subconscious, which becomes overwhelmed with the patterns. This causes the listeners' perception to change to what they expect to see, not what it really is. A side effect of the noise is feeling sick.

The discs have a maximum range and do not affect vision after a certain point. Images of those affected by illusion discs appear blurry and distorted, as shown in The Fourth Closet when photos of Baby are blurry when she is disguised as Charlie.

History[]

The Twisted Ones[]

The discs make their first appearance in the Underground Pizzeria to change how the place looked.

They were used to make the Twisted Animatronics look more friendly and lure kids in. However, the discs were also used to make them look, as the moniker would suggest, monstrous to those who know the truth about them. Later on, when Clay Burke fires a gun and hits a disc, one animatronic is reduced to a mere endoskeleton.

The Fourth Closet[]

The discs in The Fourth Closet are used primarily by Baby to disguise themselves as Charlie and when performing. William Afton later uses them on Jessica by creating an illusion of Springtrap and taunting her.
