Personality[]
Hudson is a victim of child abuse, reacting mainly out of traumatic responses. Years of living in fear have caused him to be paranoid and easily frightened. Hudson also gets irritated and defensive when confronted about his past, leading to poor treatment from others. While he finds a bit of enjoyment of getting back at those who are mean to him, he never acts on these desires. Hudson is constantly spacing out when he thinks of his past, although he has many suppressed memories and is only able to face his past in snippets. He actively tries to grow past his early life but he still feels alone in the world and doesn't take rejection well, causing him to revert back. Still, Hudson does find comfort when around his friends, Barry and Duane. He tries acting playful and relaxed around them, with varying degrees of success.
History[]
Early Life[]
Hudson grew up happy and cheerful. He and his best friends Barry and Duane loved going to an old-fashioned soda fountain ice-cream parlor called Charlie's, a tradition they kept into their adulthood. His Granny Foster would always give him wise and spiritual life advice, such as heat and fire purging. However, Hudson's life took a turn for the worse after his father, Steven, took his life after a bad deal cost him his small business.
Shortly after, Hudson's mother would remarry to a man named Lewis. Lewis would beat Hudson near daily while his mother began taking sleeping pills to get through the day, leaving Hudson sore and malnourished. While beating Hudson, Lewis would constantly tell him that he was nothing, less than nothing, and smoke. Once, Hudson mouthed off to Lewis after throwing up all over the floor of his room. In response, Lewis threw him against the wall and made a barrier out of Hudson's toys the prevent him from leaving his room. Another time, Hudson wet himself during a thunderstorm. Back inside, Lewis threw him to the floor and crushed his wrist under his boot. These injuries resulted in Hudson getting two fused disks in his spine and a wrist that isn't set right.
At school, Hudson began to get targeted by the worst bullies in his school. They would push, shove, and punch him, as well as lock him in supply closets, chase him home after the last bell rang, and hold his head in a flushing toilet. This gave him the name "Swirly-Head." Hudson would spend his nights in fear that Lewis was going to bust in his room and beat him, resulting in Hudson failing in school. His teachers showed no sympathy or care for Hudson's sudden failures and instead yelled at him for not keeping up. One tough algebra teacher, Mr. Atkin, would even call Hudson stupid in front of the class. Lewis would use his failures at school to abuse Hudson further, such as slamming his head into his desk.
One night, at the end of Hudson's senior year and ten years after Lewis became a part of Hudson's life, the two got into another fight. During the fight, Hudson managed to wrestle away Lewis' lighter and a knife. He threatened to tell everyone about Lewis' abuse if he didn't leave him alone, but Lewis simply laughed and told him that he won't be telling anyone anything and "they'll think they know what they need to know." Lewis then disappeared into the kitchen and Hudson crawled into the fireplace to hide. Realizing he still had Lewis' lighter, Hudson set fire to the curtains next to the fireplace. The fire burned down his family's house, killing Lewis and his mother. Hudson barely got out alive, and the burns on his legs leave him with nerve damage.
When the fire investigators concluded that the fire wasn't natural, police suspected Hudson. While Barry and Duane went to college, Hudson jumped between numerous dead-end, boring jobs because of being a suspect in an arson/murder. Five years pass, and Hudson found a job as a clerk at a local convenience store. He worked there for six months until Duane and Barry talked him into applying for Fazbear's Fright for a few weeks before joining the Navy. Unfortunately, the numerous amount of broken bones and the nerve damage on his legs caused Hudson to fail the physical and prevents him for joining the Navy. Still, Hudson found his job at Fazbear's Fright to be promising due to a woman he was bonding with named Faith. Two go out on a date, but five hours later Faith learned about the fire and broke up with him.
