Glitchtrap is the main antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted that exists within The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience. He is a virtual non-animatronic version of Spring Bonnie, the earliest version of Bonnie from Fredbear's Family Diner. He appears to be a virtual manifestation of William Afton, as shown from his behavior in-game.

Physical Appearance

Glitchtrap is a grinning, bipedal rabbit figure made of golden-yellow color. He is wearing a purple vest speckled with star prints and a purple bowtie with two buttons near the top of his chest. Smaller details include rotten teeth and stitches stretching across his waving hand. He often appears translucent, progressing into a less-spectral form over time.

Glitchtrap also possesses vivid purple eyes with small pupils that stare off in an unnerving manner, which are the first thing visible when he starts to appear to the player's right. In Blacklight Mode, his eyes will turn blue with white, circular pupils. He also has large whiskers on each side of his face, three eyelashes on both of his eyes, and large arch eyebrows.

In his beginning development stage after the first tape is found, Glitchtrap's form is ghostly transparent, with no huge amount of solid details, other than completely green colors and glowing pink eyes.

A closer look on Glitchtrap.

Although he lurks behind the player for a majority of the game, very little data about Glitchtrap is truly known. At this time, there is little explanation for Glitchtrap's appearance other than the small pieces of information scattered throughout Help Wanted. According to the various tapes that can be found within the game, this Spring Bonnie began to materialize after the game's beta testing began in full. Although it is not confirmed to be the case, it is highly implied that Glitchtrap may have come into the game through the scanning of old animatronic programming into the video game code to create complex AI systems. This brought in a strange and supernatural entity that deeply disturbed the beta testers that encountered it.

According to the various tape's audio, Glitchtrap is said to be made out of coding akin to a virus, or some other form of malicious software that latches onto files around it.

Glitchtrap first appears in the doorway out of the player's reach, watching from there. As the player progresses by collecting more tapes, he gets closer and closer, eventually looming directly behind the player.

According to Tape Girl, the malicious code attached itself to her log tapes, which she was keeping in a separate, protected part of the game's code. Once this happened, she could not delete it and had to fragment it among her sixteen logs. This explains why it materializes more as more tapes are collected. Once all sixteen logs are reassembled, Glitchtrap can fully materialize and will attempt to take over the player's body in order to leave the game.

Pizza Party Ending

In one of the endings, most notably the "Pizza Party" Minigame on Night Terror's Hard/Nightmare Mode, if going to a certain room, there will be a tape and a show stage of some sort with Bonnie and Chica sitting on one side of it, with Bonnie missing his face. After being in there for a couple of seconds, Glitchtrap will come out of the stage and give the player a signal to follow it. Upon following it, he seems to have transferred the player into a Freddy Fazbear suit, in which we perform in as the credits roll. In the background, Glitchtrap is seen dancing near the prize corner.

16 Tapes Ending

Once all the tapes have been collected, Glitchtrap will randomly attempt to merge with the player and escape the game in their body. When this happens, Glitchtrap appears on the main stage and the player has access to the Blacklight Switch, the Showtime and Prize Corner Buttons, and a button on the left side of the level select monitor. The correct sequence seems to be flipping the Blacklight Switch, pressing the Showtime Button, then pressing the button on the side of the monitor, and finally pressing the Prize Counter button.

If the instructions from Tape 16 are not followed the player's vision will slowly fade into a glitchy, purple screen. Once it clears, the player will be standing on the stage as Spring Bonnie. The game will then fade to black and the player arrives in the game over room with the option to return to the menu.

If the instructions from Tape 16 are followed the player appears before a metal door with a sliding lock. When opened, Glitchtrap will look through the hold, place a finger to his mouth and shush the player before walking back into the darkness. When the player appears back in the main area, a Glitchtrap plush will be on the floor to their right. It is unknown if this is the 16 Tapes ending or just progression towards it.

Glitchtrap's appearance when in blacklight mode.

  • While his name is never revealed or mentioned in-game, he is internally referred to as "SpringBonnieMan" within his files, confirming that this is a version of Spring Bonnie.
    • Glitchtrap is the closest thing to an official name for the character. This is because there's a boolean property in the save files marking whether or not Glitchtrap has been defeated, named "Glitchtrap_defeated".
    • Glitchtrap's behavior in the game coupled with various tape logs as well as his supposed official name suggests that this is an incarnation of William Afton.
  • It is highly speculated that this is one of the temporary suits mentioned in Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
  • As the player collects tapes, Glitchtrap appears to slowly come closer to them. Also, collecting Faz-Tokens seems to make him more visible and smooths out his animation.
  • When the player goes into Blacklight Mode, Glitchtrap changes from being made of green static to brown and has realistic, human eyes if viewed closely.
  • Glitchtrap's most common appearance is in a waving animation, however, he has also been seen standing with his arms by his side.
