Art of Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy, and Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's: The Fourth Closet.
Funtime Foxy's metal plates lift out, split again, and fold back, leaving only its large, grinning canine head untouched while the rest of its body mangles and transforms into a semi-arachnid form. It has long and multisegmented metal limbs like a spider’s legs, covered in springs and wires. Some limbs have hands, others don’t. Mangle’s head is suspended in the air by rods and beams. It also has a second head, which is a vaguely human, skinless metal skull with a set of yellow eyes connected to the mass by cables and cords. A red bow tie joins their necks.
History[]
The Fourth Closet[]
Mangle/Funtime Foxy first appears at the start of Chapter 13, when it opens the door to the room Jessica and the missing children are being kept it. It peaks its fox head into the room first, then fills the room with its long limbs. Mangle grabs two of the children, Lisa and Jacob, but Jessica manages to free Lisa before it retreats. Jessica and the children are then saved by Carlton and Marla. Carlton gives Jessica his earpiece and she joins Marla in helping the children escape the pizzeria while Carlton goes to save Jacob. As the group walks down the hall, the lights overhead burst and they hear a metallic rattling in the ceiling. Then, Mangle slowly descends from an open duct and the group run away. Lisa, being the smallest, falls behind and Jessica saves her from being grabbed again. Eventually they reach a pair of double doors and Marla jams a sign post into the door handles.
After the group is attacked by the Baby Crawlers, the lights in the dining room illuminate a large show stage, where Funtime Foxy stands with its mouth open and arms wide. It looks down at them before cracking open its metal plates, turning back into its mangled form. The group run for the exit as the mangled fox jumps on top of the monkey bars. As it slowly dismounts, Jessica pulls her earpiece out and calls out to it so Marla and the children can escape. She tries throwing a chair at it, but misses entirely. The fox chases Jessica, simply climbing over a table she knocks over, as she makes her way back to the double doors, which she discovers no longer opens. Mangle knocks over a popcorn cart and curiously pushes a cotton candy machine, rocking it but not knocking it over. It then uses one limb to smack Jessica's leg, sending her back into the door. Its two heads look at each other before fully extending its limbs and using three of them to crush the cotton candy machine. Jessica spots the start of a colorful pipe maze towards the ceiling, with the bars of a nearby playset leading to it. She manages to climb up and into the pipe as Mangle destroys the entire playset.
Jessica begins to look for an exit and heads towards the ball pit, since it has a canopy made of climbing rope stretching fifteen or twenty feet above the floor. The structure suddenly shakes and she sees Mangle wrapping its limbs around the tube she's in. Jessica quickly makes her way to the ball pit as the pipe maze begins to fall apart. When she reaches the ball pit, the structure shakes and sways as Mangle quickly makes its way through it. Jessica falls out of the tube and onto the canopy, and when she reaches a support bar she looks up to see Mangle moving again. It makes it way to the plastic end cap above her, with the end cap falling and hitting her head. Mangle balances itself on the edge of the pipe as Jessica reaches for her earpiece, and when the fox lunges at her she puts the earpiece in and jumps onto an arcade cabinet, falling to the floor. Mangle lands in the netting and struggles to free itself, sinking down and tearing the netting off its frame. The netting eventually breaks off and Mangle sinks into the ball pit.
Mangle/Funtime Foxy is able to escape, although the struggle has made it a tangled metal mess with its fox head turned at an alarming angle, not functioning properly, and its limbs all turned and pivoted, some of them broken and dragging. It manages to drag itself back to William Afton right as he's planning to harm Jacob. William points to a corner and orders it to get out of the way, claiming its of no use to him anymore. Then, the broken remains of Funtime Freddy make their way into the room, momentarily distracting him. Displeased by the sight of the wrecked creatures, William turns to the fox and orders it to bring him Jacob. It turns its attention to Jacob at first, with the children's souls wanting to obey, but Carlton begins to reveal who William truly is. William angrily orders the fox to bring Jacob to the table with the amalgamation on it, but its head cocks to the side right as the remaining animatronics in Circus Baby's Pizza barge into the room. When the children's souls finally realize the truth, they turn on William and attack him. The fox wraps its limbs around his legs and snaps at him. After the amalgamation pulls William into the large furnace, Mangle stops moving, with the souls having been freed.
Trivia[]
- Funtime Foxy's role in the novel seems to further support the common assumption that "Mangle" is another version of the character.
