Frank the Diver is an animatronic diver at Freddy's Fantasy Water Park, who appears in the park's main attraction, Freddy's Sea Life Mechaquarium. It plays a debatably minor role in the Tales from the Pizzaplex story, Submechanophobia, the first story in the book of the same name, and the full extent of its presence is left unclear. Frank is heavily implied to be an animatronic within a fully functioning, vintage diving suit that can be worn by others, but this is not explicitly stated. It was depicted in the foreground of the original versions of the Tales from the Pizzaplex book it's featured in and is the only animatronic to not be present in the climax of the Submechanophobia story.

Physical Appearance[]

Frank is shown very little in the Submechanophobia story. It's only directly described as a vintage diver, with a metal helmet.

As with all of the animatronics of the Mechaquarium, Frank is described as old and rundown, with chipped paint, spots of rust and a few broken pieces you wouldn't notice at a distance. How relevant this particular description is to Frank specifically is unclear, as its physical state is never commented on.

On the first book cover, it retains its book description as it's most likely modelled on vintage diving suits. The suit appears to have a light, washed out brown colour for the fabric, with a brighter, more colourful brown for its gloves. The material appears quite thick, and the gloves have a prominent cuff that seemingly sits a little below its elbows. Its helmet is spherical, the base colour of which is a dark brown. The round window in the front of the helmet has a bronze coloured frame, with a hinge its left side and a screw to fasten it shut on the right. This frame matches the band of bronze that goes around the circumfrence of the helmet through the middle and links up with what appear to be two other windows, one on either side, that have square, metal grates over them. On the left of the helmet with the fastening screw, there's small dots in this metal band, but none on the other side with the hinge. Underneath the glass window on either side are two knobs that look like an arcade game joystick, but with small, thick pieces of metal through the circular end that both curl upwards and away from the window above. They look like they could be intended as something that's turned in order to further fasten the helmet to the wearer.

Around the diver's neck, there's two more bronze bands and the metal from the helmet goes past them a little ways to sit the helmet on Frank's shoulders. Beneath this part of the helmet, is a darker brown metal, that reaches partway down the front of the chest, with more bronze framing it's edges. There are two bronze metal fastenings near the middle of this chest pieces that seemingly connect it to the frame. A brown leather belt-like object is wrapped over Frank's shoulders and cross over the front of the chest, through a bronze, square loop, and curve back towards eachother as they go further down and off the bottom of the image. There's various dots that could represent small holes in this belt, both above and below the loop, but don't go up far enough to reach the shoulder, and are unevenly spaced. A corrugated tube comes down from behind Frank from somewhere above the top boundary of the image, and loops over the shoulders, and reaches low enough down the chest to be level with the loop where the belt overlaps. Finally, this depiction of Frank appears to be wearing a belt of sorts just below the lower boundary of the image due to the solid, boxey pouches that are still visible.

The face behind the glass of the helmet, is at an angle, with hyper realistic, detailed, almost pristine white teeth, large, round, bright green, glowing eyes that have a lime green centre and small black pupils. There are no other distinguishable features of the face within the helmet as the rest of it is in complete darkness, with only a mild white glow, that gives the eyes a sunken look, the impression of a nose and forehead, and highlights the corners of the mouth around the teeth. All of this seems to indicate the sources of the glow are only the teeth and eyes.

In the second iteration of the front cover Frank the Diver is featured in, its almost the exact same in appearance, but is larger, thus appearing much closer to the viewer. The light and shadows are much more prominent in this version, but the only real physical difference appears to be that the gloved hand reaching towards the view is dark green instead of brown.

Frank the diver is not featured on the final cover of the book.

Personality[]

Like most of the underwater animatronics of the water park, Frank does not have much of a personality. It's only described as swimming quite slowly under normal circumstances, along with all of the other Mechaquarium animatronics.

History[]

Frank the Diver is yet another animatronic named by water park employee, Roy, though his reasoning for the name is not given. As with all of the animatronics of the park, it was left mostly uncared for during the park's several year closure, and no money was spent on its renovation for the park's reopening. How badly time has effected Frank specifically, is unknown.

It's unclear as to when Frank is in the Mechaquarium alongside Caden during the story, and when it's actually Martin Copper in the diver's suit. It can be assumed that it's Frank at the beginning of the story, and is actually Martin after the child's shoe is recovered from Zeus the Sea Dragon's mouth, during the various attempts on Caden's life. With this in mind, the diver is likely Frank himself only on Caden's first few dives into the Mechaquarium and during Caden's nightmare, in which he swims significantly faster than normal and pulls a child under the water to drown them. This makes Frank the only animatronic, besides the defunct squid in the workshop, to not be present during the climax of the story.
