Tangle, previously known as The Blob, is an amalgamation of various animatronics that appears in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach as a secret antagonist.
Physical Appearance
“Like Molten Freddy, The Blob may have its origins in Ennard-but with even more of the other characters combined into it's body. It has the face of Funtime Freddy, and other visible parts come from Chica, Bonnie, Mangle, Circus Baby, and the Puppet. So maybe this is where they all ended up...” |
As its name suggests, Tangle is a huge mass of wire tentacles and animatronic parts, possessing many glowing red eyes. Tangle's main head is a mask appears to be Funtime Freddy's but with glossy black eyes and pinkish red glowing pupils, and its endo face reveals to have metal plates, lacking coils of galvanized wire. It appears to be a larger version of Molten Freddy after the Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator fire, but is far more grotesque and mixed with parts of more animatronics and endoskeletons. If one looks closely, they can see parts of other old animatronics, such as pieces of Circus Baby, the Puppet, Chica, Mangle, Bonnie, several Endo-02s, and likely many others.
Personality
Tangle's mind is that of a mindless monster reacting with simple grunts and screeches that are both deep and distorted, as well as low, mechanical snoring noises. Some theorize that this implies all of the animatronics making up the amalgamation are constantly fighting each other for control. Nevertheless, they still appear to retain a fragment of motivation, a deep desire for vengeance against Burntrap.
Another theory is that Tangle is infused with agony, making it so that instead of having the souls of William's victims and harboring hate towards him specifically it is filled with the agony those victims felt, collecting agony infused items and attacking whatever comes near it. However, it is implied to still have some past history with Burntrap, as it attacks him despite Burntrap being part robot, unlike with Glamrock Freddy who Tangle will not attack. If Burntrap is the Mimic and not Afton, then it's possible that Tangle could be possessed by the Mimic's past victims.
A third theory is that Tangle is a continuation of Molten Freddy, just with extra metal parts from the other animatronics from Pizzeria Simulator.

Tangle is seen only in the Burn It All Down Ending route of the game, and thus can only be found after fully upgrading Glamrock Freddy. Its lair can be accessed via the old elevator below the establishment locked by the gate using Glamrock Chica's voice box. It can be seen sleeping by the entrance to the main floor, guarding it, and can only be passed if Gregory is safely hidden inside of Glamrock Freddy. If the player does not enter the area inside of Glamrock Freddy, Tangle will attack the player.
During the fight against Burntrap, Tangle will attempt to attack the player via the manhole covers throughout the office. The player can prevent Tangle's tentacles from appearing at all by staying in a particular area of the office, or keeping Roxanne Wolf active within the office as she attacks due to Tangle appearing directly after she leaves. If the player makes contact with any of these tentacles, Tangle will jumpscare the player. Tangle can be driven away from its attack during this sequence by walking across the office inside of Glamrock Freddy, as they will retract their tentacles back into the manhole covers consequent to doing so.
Upon defeating Burntrap, the closing cinematic cutscene will play. Players see Burntrap attempting to escape the fire of his room, only for Tangle to unexpectedly descend down from the ceiling behind him and scream before using its mechanical tentacles to pull Burntrap up into the ceiling with it.
Tangle reappears in a small cameo near the beginning of the Ruin DLC, where it can be seen inside a hole in the wall at the bottom of a staircase. It quickly slinks away and out of view once the player gets near it, and disappears for the rest of the game. Later into the DLC, when entering the remains of Roxy Raceway, Cassie remarks that the whole place has collapsed. Gregory in response informs her that the "earthquake" was caused by something tunneling out from the underground area. It is heavily implied that Tangle was the creature that dug its way out from the sunken pizzeria, as the amalgamation was seen in one of the staircases near the entrance, as mentioned before, which is above ground.

Security Breach
- According to the Five Nights at Freddy's Character Encyclopedia, it states that "The Blob" is "Not the Canon Name" for this character.[1]
- Further evidence to the true name being "Tangle" is found in the files, where it is referred to as "Tangle", more than "The Blob".
- This is odd as it also the name of an enemy from FNaF World, which is a different color-paletted Mangle.
- When Tangle attacks Gregory in its lair, all of its faceplates open at once only at the end of its jumpscare. However, when it attacks Gregory during the fight against Burntrap, all of its faceplates remain open during the full duration of its jumpscare.
- Tangle and DJ Music Man are currently the two largest animatronics of the entire Five Nights at Freddy's series.
- This is further stated in the Character Encyclopedia, which states that Tangle is the largest animatronic yet in the entire series.
- Tangle was first teased at the end of the first Freddy & Friends: On Tour! episode, where its swaying tentacle was seen over the static screen.
- Tangle appears to be an amalgam of various other animatronics.
- Tangle is unaffected by the Fazerblaster or Faz Camera if Gregory obtains them.
- This is odd as it has eyes with nothing shielding them.
- This may be explained by all of the eyes on Tangle being non-functional, and it purely reacts to stimuli from sounds and touch/vibrations. It explains why Tangle feels around the final area with its tentacles instead of sticking its head through a manhole like it does with its jumpscare.

- Strangely, it has a different scream when it attacks Burntrap, but when it attacks Gregory, it has the same jumpscare sound with none of its original screams.
Help Wanted 2
- Tangle was originally going to appear in the Fizzy Faz levels as seen on the leftover code in Help Wanted 2.
- While inside the restaurant with the mask off, it is speculated that the banging and scraping noises in the background could be Tangle inside the walls.
