History[]
Into the Pit Novel[]
Dylan Cooper is a bully at Westbrook Elementary and Westbrook Middle School, picking on anything that made others different. He is the tallest kid in fifth graders and enjoys looming over those he bullies.[1] When they were preschoolers, there was a cartoon about a big pink ocelot named Oswald, which lead to Dylan and his friends calling Oswald "Oswald the Ocelot" ever since the first day of kindergarten.[2] In fifth grade, they were taught about Lee Harvey Oswald in U.S. history, leading to worse name-calling from Dylan. On the last day of fifth grade, Oswald bumps into Dylan while entering the school, and Dylan's smile grows wide as he taunts Oswald. He doesn't follow Oswald when he walks away. Later, when Oswald arrives at Westbrook Middle School, he comes across Dylan in the hall. Dylan tries taunting him, but Oswald pushes past him.[3]
