Physical Appearance[]

Doug is a middle-aged, short and chubby man with peachy skin, rosy cheeks, blue eyes and a dark hair which seems to be graying. He wears a dark blue suit, a white shirt and an orange, black and white colored tie tied around the collar of his shirt. He also carries around a brown suitcase which contains several legal documents, including the "Family Court Matter" file that Jane wanted Michael to sign so that she could gain Abby's custody.

Personality[]

Doug is usually lost in his own thoughts, often not paying attention to his surroundings with a blank stare. He does not approve of being witness to his client's plans for illegal activity, and attempts to leave, but is not successful in doing so.

History[]

Doug is first seen in the Child Development Center along with Jane Schmidt. After being awoken from his dazing off, Doug hands Michael custody papers. He later appears at Sparky's Diner, again with Jane as she talks with Jeff and Maxine. He'll start to panic, as he realizes he shouldn't be hearing their conversation, due to the incriminating topic, but is forced to remain at the table until a new deal is set.

Trivia[]

  • The shot of Doug sitting at a table was among the first few images released from the films production.
  • Doug is the only character out of the four people who went to Sparky's Diner to not be killed in the entire movie. (Jeff, Maxine, Jane). Which also includes Carl and Hank.
  • Doug is a Minnesota lawyer, shown in his "Family Court Matter" papers handed to Mike.

  • In the novelization, Doug is said to stare at Maxine's breasts while waiting for Jane to arrive at the diner. This was a mistake left in and was addressed by Scott Cawthon a few weeks after the novelization's release, clarifying the mistake and stating it will be removed in future prints.[1]
