List of Minor Characters[]
Grimmly[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Grim (disambiguation).
Grimmly is Nole and Sam's cinematography teacher at the college they attend.
Darla Stewart[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Stew (disambiguation).
Darla Stewart is one of Amber's friends. Nole finds her attractive and bluntly compliments her appearance, saying she has a "fine caboose." Darla and Amber are the second to last group to leave the classroom, deciding to make a film about knitting. The two then discuss a poetry reading for their English class. Later, Darla and her friend group finds Amber and Nole sitting outside the cafeteria instead of where Amber usually is. Amber joins the group while Nole returns to the frat house.
Floyd[]
Floyd is the made-up character, the one Nole was supposed to play for their Blackbird horror film. Nole and Sam create his bedroom at the film studio they were filming at.
Valerie[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Val (disambiguation).
Valerie is Christine's friend who was also bullied by Nole. She had frizzy hair that Nole thought she washed too much. When Nole had thrown burrs on Christine, he wanted to see if they stuck better to greasy hair. The burrs end up sticking on Valerie better, and Nole enjoyed watching Christine and Valerie pick burrs off of each other.
Ian[]
Ian is one of Nole's frat brothers. He's a muscular guy with spiky black hair. Ian is a dedicated football player who likes to treat his body as a temple, and to show off his body he walks around in his boxer shorts. Nole finds the boxer shorts amusing due to how many Ian has and the many different colors and patterns there are.
After his first date with Amber, Nole returns to the frat house to find Ian looking rumbled, with a gray claylike complexion and dark smudges under his eyes. The contrast between his physical appearance and the white boxers covered in bright yellow rubber ducks is off-putting to Nole. Ian explains that he has trouble sleeping at night, and Nole jokes that it's his guilty conscious. Later, when the Blackbird attacks Nole, he breaks down the door and shakes him awake. This time, Ian wears red boxer shorts covered with charging bulls. He sits down into Nole's desk chair and explains that he heard Nole making weird sound and thought he was dying. Nole is touched by what Ian did and thanks him. Ian offers to fix Nole's door after getting a few things from the hardware store, explaining that he likes to fix things and it will help him keep his mind off of the makeup test he needs to take. Nole offers to help with any classwork and then asks Ian what he'd do to find someone who isn't on the internet. Ian asks if Nole knows their parents and Nole thanks him again.
Steve[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Steven (disambiguation).
Steve is one of Nole's frat brothers. Nole leaves the cafeteria and finds him standing at the bottom of the stairs with his arm around a pretty, redheaded girl. He asks if Nole is okay, and when he says yes the two wander off.
Lois[]
- Not what you were looking for? See Luis (disambiguation).
Lois is a waitress at Wilbers' Eats. She's thin with dyed-blonde hair. Lois wears a pinkish uniform dress and a bright blue apron. She greets Nole when he arrives and calls Christine's father over. While Nole's explaining that he needs to find Christine, Lois asks if he has a crush on her and asks if part of "one of those make-amends things."
Claire[]
Claire is Christine's roommate. When Nole arrives at Christine's room, she asks if he's looking for Claire instead.
Unnamed Frat Guy[]
One of Nole's unnamed intramural friends throws Nole a football. As Nole prepares to throw it back, he spots the Blackbird for the first time and flops the throw. His friend proceeds to insult him from afar.
Unnamed Campus Cop[]
An unnamed campus cop finds Nole running around in circles screaming apologies at Sam. He isn't much older than Nole, but he is taller and has dark skin, closely cropped hair, and an unimpressive badge clipped to his belt. He shines a light at Nole's face asks if Nole is drunk or high. Nole says neither, and after scanning him with the flashlight some more he puts it away. Nole explains he pissed off a friend and is trying to get his frustrations out. After standing in silence for a few minutes, the campus cop explains that he gets it. He recommends that Nole keep running, and the two nod at each other before going their separate ways.
