- Main article: Oscar Avila
Oscar Avila is the protagonist of the second Fazbear Frights book's third story.
Ms. Avila[]
Ms. Avila is Oscar's mother. She is tall with a gray streak running from her cowlick to her crown. Ms. Avila and Oscar both have smooth features and dark-brown eyes like coal. When her husband died when Oscar was young, Ms. Avila worked hard for her education while caring for Oscar alone, and eventually got an important job at the Royal Oaks Nursing Home. She works hard to give her son a good life with their poor income, moving to the cheaper end of town. Ms. Avila and Oscar are very close, and as Oscar grew older Ms. Avila became more dependent on his help. Most of the time, she calls Oscar to help her out at Royal Oaks.
On a Friday in late October, a patient at Royal Oaks becomes paranoid that the cat in his room will steal his soul, and Ms. Avila has to call Oscar out of class to help calm him down. Once he's done, she praises him and tries asking Oscar to pick up some yogurt, but he rushes out the door before she can. Ms. Avila is later told by the receptionist that he and his friends went to the mall. The next day, Ms. Avila reads in the newspaper about an incident at the Emporium where security was called and a couple kids ran off with a toy. When Oscar wakes up and goes to eat breakfast, she confronts him about what she read and points out that he and his friends were there. Oscar tells her that it happened after they got there, and she stares at him for a long time before finishing off her coffee and throwing the newspaper in the recycling, not saying another word.
The day before Halloween, Ms. Avila calls Oscar and tells him that many people have called in sick due to the storm and she needs his help tomorrow. Oscar initially isn't listening, but he quickly remembers the next day is Halloween and tries objecting. Ms. Avila questions if they're too old to be trick-or-treating, but Oscar snaps and complains that she expects him to be older than he is because of his dad's death. He then angerly admits to having stolen the Plushtrap Chaser right as the phone line cuts out. When Ms. Avila returns home the next day, she discovers most of the doors heavily damaged. Oscar promises to spend the next weekend patching them and saving up for a new garage door, but his mother doesn't seem to notice, emotionally distraught over what Oscar said. Oscar later finds Ms. Avila in the break room of Royal Oaks that night and gives her favorite chocolates. She then pulls him in for a very tight hug and apologizes for depending on his so much. Oscar tells her it's okay and lets her hug him for a good long while.
Oscar's Father[]
Oscar's unnamed father passed away when Oscar was young. He went to the hospital for a minor surgery but ended up contracting a fatal infection. It is one of the many reasons why Oscar felt that he was unlucky.
