Arnold is the main protagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic. He was a technician working for Fazbear Entertainment, Inc. who is tasked with retrieving abandoned Fazbear property from the deserted Murray's Costume Manor, including Mimic.

Physical Appearance

Little is known about Arnold's appearance beyond the fact that he wears a green, Fazbear-branded work coat, yellow work gloves, a blue worker jumpsuit, and brown boots. This is the same attire worn by other Fazbear Technicians.

Personality

Arnold is a reluctant, overworked, and exhausted man. He does not speak much during the events of the game, but when he does, he is either very tired or completely terrified as a result of what he experiences throughout the night. Arnold does not seem shy about voicing his feelings in certain situations, especially to Dispatch. Despite this, Arnold is a hard worker, and does not buckle under pressure.

History

Not much is revealed about Arnold's past. He was a Fazbear employee prior to the events of Secret of the Mimic, and appears to have been experiencing financial difficulties. At the start of the game, during his conversation with Dispatch, Arnold mentions that he had been working for 36 hours straight and could barely keep his eyes open. He says that he was thinking about telling his manager that he cannot handle the workload, but is cut off when Dispatch assigns Arnold to the task of retrieving the Mimic. During this same conversation, Arnold states that the only reason he endures the stressful conditions of his job is because Fazbear Entertainment has threatened to dock his pay and repossess his truck.

Arnold's co-workers do not seem to respect him. When Arnold contacts dispatch upon arriving at Murray's Costume Manor, it is revealed that Fazbear employees were making bets on whether or not Arnold would survive.

Arnold shows himself to be a physically resilient individual, as he has survived several falls with only a hard cough, and is also able to work another night after a 36-hour shift, seemingly experiencing little fatigue, despite his own words.

Trivia

• In a cut intro interaction with Dispatch, Arnold mentions that his parents are dead and that his wife left him the year before, also mentioning that he has a kid.
  • Due to this interaction being cut from the final game, it is likely no longer canon to his character.
  • In the same cut interaction, Arnold mentions that he had worked a 14-hour shift, instead of the final 36-hour.
  • During the intro, he mentions that he is going to tell to his manager that he cannot handle the workload, which could mean that these kind of shifts are not out of the ordinary for him.
• His character model is not completely modeled as only his hands and arms appear in the game.
• Unlike Gregory/Cassie, Arnold can sprint infinitely. This could be due to his physical stamina, as the two former are children, or because Secret of the Mimic often features scripted chases that would be difficult to avoid with a limited sprint pool.
