April is a recurring character in Frailty, the first story in Tales from the Pizzaplex 1: Lally's Game. She is a patient who got sent to the hospital because of cancer in her bloodstream.[1]
Appearance[]
April has red hair with tiny freckles speckled across her cheeks. When first meeting Jessica, she wore headphones which she used to play on her phone.
As her conditions gets worse, she starts to turn pale and fragile, similar to Jessica's condition.
Personality[]
April is shown to be straightforward and upfront, mostly speaking from her heart. According to Nurse Colin, she is also a really sweet girl, asking many questions about his life.[2]
History[]
Prior to being administered to the hospital, she was an athletic basketball player for her school.[3] However over the last couple years, she started to miss out on some stuff, going in and out of school presumably because of her cancerous bloodstream.[4] Because of this, her friends would barely speak to her due to not having anything to say to her. However, one morning during the story, she got transmitted into the hospital due to cancer in her bloodstream. When she would go out, people would look at her with pity and sometimes fear, as if they would get sick too. [5]
On the day of Prom Night, her condition starts to get worse, as none of the medications and antibiotics from the nurses seems to work on her. It gets so bad that the Nurses don't believe that she's going to make it, asking Father Jeremiah to pray for her. However, an upset Jessica runs in her room and blocks the door, deciding to tear away the last part of her pendant to heal her completely, killing herself in the process. After this, her heart begins to heal and become stronger, a result of the last of Jessica's magic heart pendant.
