I only read half of this but i feel like a point i can make about the appearance could be that when the mimic was made (based from tftp) it was made with random parts that were thrown together, over time they couldve broken apart n the mimic could have had to get new parts or fix them

He would know this from watching Edwin (think thats his name) work with animatronics
