hi guys! i'd like to contribute to this thread.. william definitely does not have DID. it's fine to have headcanons that disagree with canon ofc, but unless you make up your own lore for the 'william afton is a system' headcanon:
DID develops during early childhood, when a child experiences overwhelming repeated or severe trauma. it can develop anything prior from ages 5-9. this is quoted from the DID subreddit, but:
Everyone starts out as infants with scattered pieces to their identity. Over time, these pieces come together and the child develops as sense of "This is me. These are things I like. These are things I don't like. I know who I am." This usually completes by age 9. In infants/young children, trauma causes personality development to slow or stop, and repeated trauma causes these pieces of personality to dissociate further from each other. That's how the mind protects itself. These separated pieces with their memories, thoughts, and feelings develop their "This is me" as well. They may look and act so differently from each other because they are pulling from their small chunk of life experiences and building an identity around those.
this means that william would have had to have a horrible childhood with traumatic events.. we don't know anything about his childhood. so unless you make a theory / headcanon on how his childhood was, i doubt he has DID. you should research more on DID/OSDD before you make a theory involving it, just to make it more accurate! :) not meant to attack you btw, just wanted to give you more info
