Vanny's and Vanessa's pages have been split up for quite a long period of time now, and it's been a consistent topic of discussion among editors whether or not to keep the pages split up (as they are now) or to merge them into one another. Currently, Vanny's and Vanessa's pages are split up, although Vanessa's page treats them as the same person and Vanny's page treats them as seperate, although likely the same, people.

After much deliberation and research along with discussion with other admins and moderators, I have made the choice to officially merge these pages into one another. Vanny's page will be merged into Vanessa's until further notice.

Why did you decide to make this change?

• For a more cohesive and consistent reading/editing experience. Currently, the pages are very disconnected from each other, even though one page treats them as though they are the same and another focuses on just Vanny as an identity. This leads to a poor quality editing experience and often leads to confusion between the two, from what I've heard from inexperienced readers.

• For a better and less redundant editing experience. Many pieces of information on the Vanessa and Vanny pages, as it stands, are extremely redundant or otherwise unnecessary additions to the page that would be better placed on either the other page or a different page altogether.

What evidence led you to the conclusion that there is enough support to justify this decision?

There's a decent amount to unpack here, and I don't want to flood this post with information, so I'll be going over a few concrete, official sources with minimum speculation.

• Overt evidence supporting Vanessa = Vanny that would require several coincidences to be realized in order for the possibility to become untrue. Some of these pieces of evidence are spread across games, but I will mostly be focusing on Security Breach here, as it is the most focused on Vanny/Vanessa. For starters, the nickname Vanny is outright stated to be similar to "Vanessa" and "Bunny" combined by Glamrock Freddy, once Vanny's hideout is discovered. In the same game, what is supposedly Vanessa's face can be seen under Vanny's mask, and there is no other known character who could have been similar appearance to her. Other coincidences, like Vanny replacing Vanessa after the Vanny Meter fills up in the cut Survival Mode, Vanny appearing coincidentally after Vanessa several times throughout the game, etc. apply as well.

• The Special Delivery emails. Vanessa is featured prominently throughout most of the cut emails in Special Delivery, all of which are confirmed to be canon. In most of these emails, she is seen completing some activity supposedly related to her brainwashing or just Vanny in general. For example, she becomes depressed and withdrawn after formerly being excited and upbeat, she requests a rabbit cake for a birthday, and she is seen ordering fabric for a costume.

• The HW Glitchtrap/Mask secret. In HW, if you obtain both the Glitchtrap plush and Vanny mask from Corn Maze, you can listen to a secret dialogue between the protagonist and an unnamed individual who is presumably Glitchtrap. The protagonist's voice is feminine, they are actively wearing the Vanny mask (and it is heavily implied that they are possessed by it to an extent), and the protagonist of HW is all but confirmed to be Vanessa via several unrelated theories.

• The Character Encyclopedia outright confirms it. The character encyclopedia directly says that Vanessa is Vanny and vice versa. The encyclopedia is known for a bunch of minor mistakes like Bon-Bon's gender being incorrect, but it's likely impossible that Scott approved the book in its current state with such a misrepresentation of factual content.

What do you have to say about (counterargument)?

• Possible sister/other character being Vanny: Although possible to an extent, there is ultimately no evidence supporting the fact that Vanessa has some sort of sibling that could be Vanny. No known character exists that could emulate Vanny or be similar in appearance to Vanessa, so it is ultimately speculation.

• Rooftop ending contradiction: This is by far the most convincing evidence I've seen against the theory. Vanessa appears on the rooftop after Freddy pushes Vanny off of the roof and unmasks her. Some say that Vanessa appearing here implies that they are different characters altogether. Unfortunately, there are still a few contradictions here - namely the lack of a character who could have actually been Vanny, as discussed previously. In my opinion, it's more likely that this is some sort of representation of Vanessa rather than a physical version of Vanessa herself.

• It's not concrete yet. Why don't we just keep them seperate for now?: Normally, this would be true - but there is a precedent on this wiki of updating things that aren't confirmed officially, but have plenty of evidence supporting them. The split also serves to a direct decrease in quality of each page, as they are redundant and filled with information that constantly conflicts with one another.

What happens next?

Vanessa's page will be unlocked for the time being for the sake of improvement and merging. VANNY'S PAGE WILL BE MERGED INTO VANESSA'S. Vanny's page will be kept up for the time being for the sake of being usable during the merge, but will likely be deleted once the merge is completed or a sizable amount of time has passed. Regardless of the page's deletion, the page's source code and information can be found on my user page under my sandbox until I deem the page quality enough and the merge complete.

I will personally monitor the pages whenever possible and check for vandalism/false content regularly. I will delete Vanny's page when I deem that the page is officially complete and the merge is finished. Anyone vandalizing the page or purposely adding misinformation will be blocked. Users experienced in editing are encouraged to help with the merge.

The goal is to move all information currently on the Vanny page to the Vanessa page as soon as possible. Once all information is removed and redundant information is modified/cut, the pages will be complete.

TL/DR: Vanny's page is being merged into Vanessa's page due to an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting the fact that they are the same person. Vanessa's page will be unlocked and Vanny's page will be deleted once the merge is complete.
