Yes, I know, Mimictrap and Aftontrap are incredibly controversial, blah blah blah, but let's get to the point. This post is in no way intended to diss on Aftontrappers. Instead, I'll be providing the evidence I can find and then stating my opinions. Side note: If you are going to put something in the comments disagreeing with that I say, would like for you to provide evidence.
Appearance:
Alright, let's start with the basics. Appearance might not seem that important. And we all know that characters undergo some severe changes. But this one is far too significant to ignore. As stated in the books, the Mimic would mimic David and curl its arm like David would to hold a tiger plush. Well, we see Burntrap doing the same thing-and then when we finally see the Mimic, the position is near identical. They even use the same hand. Coincidence? I think not.
Look closer. Their hands and feet are similar. And correct me if I'm wrong, but in the books (which were established before Ruin), Mimic was described as having clawed hands, a "crude ribcage"-which matches Burntrap's endo-and it is described as having bent metal pieces resembling rabbit ears on the top of its head. Keep in mind that Ruin Mimic does not have these. It is stated in the books that Mimic can change shape and was kind of a mixmatch of parts-think of it like Mangle, if you will. When it was trapped under the Pizzaplex, he had plenty of access to springlock materials, animatronic suits, and even corpses once he killed people. So Mimic could easily have been down there changing his shape to whatever he pleased. We know from the epilogues it would use costumes to hide and change its true identity. Since it is likely that Mimic witnessed the MCI, which we'll get to later, it could've easily been trying to mimic Afton.
But these are small potatoes compared to the rest. Let's move on, shall we?
How is Mimic the Glitchtrap virus?
As we all know, the most important part of Mimic's backstory is when Edwin beats the everloving shit out of him with a pipe. it is said that Mimic is in a facility with mascot costumes with crude stitching. As Edwin attacks Mimic brutally, he is described as crying and frothing at the mouth while doing so. Oddly enough, Glitchtrap has these same features-the crude stitching, the tears, everything. That would make sense, as that was the last thing Mimic saw.
In Help Wanted, we know that Glitchtrap was created when they scanned circuit boards into the game to cut corners on pathfinding, subsequently releasing the virus into the system. Interestingly, Glitchtrap takes advantage of Tape Girl's tapes and uses them to his advantage, distorting and manipulating them to his will. Sound familiar? Well, that's because it IS. We know Mimic can, well, mimic and distort voices just like Glitchtrap does.
The circuit board was said to have come from an animatronic with hard casing, and I have two things to say about that.
First off, if we're assuming that the circuit board came from Scraptrap, the key phrase we're missing is hard casing. It's very unlikely that Scraptrap would have hard casing, as we can see bits of his fur, or even that a working circuit board would be in an old springlock suit, but I'll tlak about that in a minute. How would they find that circuit board, if it were even there, and not notice the corpse?
And secondly, if that suit did have a circuit board, the "brain" of the animatronic-which we can't see by looking at his model, but that's not very solid evidence-how would that one circuit board be able to preserve his soul? Especially if it were burned and fried and more than likely destroyed. But Mimic? That circuit board would hold its programming and memory and, if it were scanned, theoretically allow its programming to take form.
How could Mimic know about and mimic Afton?
Simple. There is a highly plausible theory that, since Mimic was around since the beginning, it witnessed the MCI. The Mimic is described as having seen some "twisted hide and seek" game. This more than likely means the MCI, as the children would have hid while he found and killed them. This is also implied by Springtrap's voice lines in AR, where he says, "Hide if you want. It did not save the others. It will not save you," where "the others" are referring to the victims trying to save their lives. As we see in the epilogues, the Mimic lures his victims into a room and murders them. This is essentially a recreation of the MCI. And as another theorist has said, the Mimic really tries to become said character that he is mimicking. In The Monty Within, it growls and roars just like Monty does. Even in Ruin, Mimic really acted like it was Gregory, not just trying to mimic him, which explains its sadistic behavior.
There are even mimic endoskeletons in SB.
This was pointed out by anther theorist and I found it really interesting, On the instruction panels for the endos, some of the endos are shows spray-painted over with bunny ears and a picture of Glitchtrap. Since we know that these panels were meant to teach the endos, and the Mimic line was a way to cut corners, this would be like the Mimic trying to get them to do horrible things. This provides even more evidence for Mimictrap, as the pictures are shown depicting endos with rabbit ears just like the Mimic, and then a picture of Glitchtrap next to it.
Well, that's all I've got for now. Disagree or agree with me, just stay civil. Lumen, out.
