Samantha missed her sister more than anything. It had been years since she died. Decades.
She didn’t think she would ever get over it. And why should she? Someone had taken her amazing older sister from her. Her parents took their grief to their grave.
While Samantha never moved on, she distracted herself. She got married and had two daughters, Suellen and Rosemary Donnelly.
Samantha, alongside some other siblings of the missing kids to found The Missing Children Foundation, a foundation to help solve the murders and disappearances of children.
One day they got a donation of $2,500.
Joshua Joy, younger brother of Fritz Joy, was the one who told them.
“Two thousand, five hundred dollars! What the hell!”
Henry Wilson, Jeremy’s older brother, looked suspicious. “Who’s it from?”
Joshua looked at the note attached to the check. “Oh of fucking course.” He flipped over the check. “Michael Afton!”
Samantha was angry. Afton, William Afton, killed her sister. He killed Fritz and Jeremy and Gabriel and Cassidy. Who was Michael? How was he related to that monster?
Fritz opened the note.
“You read the check. You know my name. I’m not sure you know I’m his son, but now you do.”
Henry made a face of anger.
“Don’t think I’m here to defend my father’s actions. That is the last thing I wanna do. I’m mad at him, not as mad as you are I’m sure, but mad. The things my father did should NEVER be forgiven. And I feel like I was responsible for it. I feel like I’m the one that broke the camel’s back. At least accept the donation. It’s the least I can do after what my family has done to you.”
Samantha felt on the verge of tears. “That was so sweet.”
“At least he wants to help the families of those his father killed.”
Samantha smiled at the check on the table. At least someone in that family had a good heart.
