I’ve never seen someone throw so many chairs as Crystal Kain when she finds out her sister is missing. And that’s saying something, especially when you had to watch the Afton divorce. Mom throws like a football player.
Crystal is definitely going to be a sports star. She threw a wooden chair and broke it.
“Crystal, come down!” her mother yelled. “We’ll find Kayla.”
“People don’t come back from Freddy’s,” Crystal cried. “They go there and die.”
Reassuring.
“Crystal! Michael is here. Get to school!” Her mother screamed.
“He’s part of the problem!”
“Feeling the love here, Crystal.”
She turned to me and gave me the death stare. “Fine Michael. Let’s get to school.”
She hates me now.
Crystal ignored me the entire day. Lucas and Corey tried to fix it. David, the worst friend ever, tried flirting with the girl he knew I had a crush on.
She kicked him. In the groin. She scares me.
I had to bribe her with KitKats so she would talk to me again. According to my dad, that's step one to getting a girl to like you.
“What do you want, Afton?” she asked, half a KitKat in her mouth.
“Ok, I know you’re upset about Kayla, but what if we go back to FFPJ and find her.”
She looked intrigued. “How would we do that? No one would let us roam around.”
I smiled. “My dad owns the place. I can steal his keys!”
She looked super excited. “I can’t w-”
“Michael Afton and Crystal Kain, please pay attention. Do not make me fail you!”
We both turned in our seats and folded our hands.
The next day, I grabbed a spare backpack. A plastic water bottle, a flashlight, a few granola bars, a kitchen knife and my brother’s plushie, for good luck. I tiptoed into my dad’s room. I grabbed his keys, clutching them in my hand to avoid them jiggling.
I sneaked out of the front door, grabbing my house key on the way. I grabbed my bike and started racing to Freddy Fazbear’s. My bike was purple, because my dad got it for me.
Crystal waited eagerly for me at the back door.
“Open it!” she whisper-yelled.
“Hello to you too,” I said sarcastically.
“Hello Michael, open it!”
I grabbed my dad's keys. I checked each key, it took me five tries before I got it right.
“We’re in.”
Crystal pushed past me. She reached into her bag and grabbed her flashlight. “You brought a weapon right?”
I pulled out my flashlight and knife. She held up hers.
“We were meant to be,” I smiled.
She leaned over to an extra chair. I held up my hands in surrender.
We headed towards the main room. Part of me was hoping she would get scared and hide in my arms. The other half knew if she was scared she would grab a chair and hit someone with it.
We turned to the bathroom hallway. I heard the distinct voices of Foxy and Freddy. Weird, seeing as they are supposed to be in the rotting corpse of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Sr.
“Ok, what’s your name?” said Foxy
“Gabriel,” said Freddy. “Wait no, I’m Freddy.”
“And who is that?”
“Freddy.”
“You’re Freddy!”
“No, I’m pretty sure he’s Freddy.”
I could hear Foxy muttering and screaming.
“Ok, now what?” Crystal whispered.
“Now we run.”
I heard Foxy again. “Who’s that? It better not be another guy with a Freddy mask!”
We booked it to the prize corner.
