He lured them all back. Back to a familiar place. Back with familiar tricks. He brought them all together. Are they still... aware? I hope not. It keeps me awake at night. I could make myself... sleep. But not yet. Not until I undo what he has done and heal this wound - a wound first inflicted on me, but then one that I let bleed out to cause all of this. He set some kind of trap. I don't know what it was, but he lead them there again. He overpowered them, again. And he robbed them of the only thing that they had. Again. I don't know how those tiny breaths of life came to inhabit those machines. But they will never find rest now. Not like this. I have to call them all back. All of them. Together, in one place.
Henry Emily, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator

Henry Emily, known in-game as "Cassette Man", is a pivotal yet unseen character in the Five Nights at Freddy's series.

He was the founder of Fazbear Entertainment, as well as an engineer responsible for creating the springlock animatronics. In Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, he guides the player character in the salvaging process through a cassette player with tips on how to deal with the animatronics while filling out the salvage report.

Physical Appearance[]

According to LadyFiszi's drawing, Henry used to have blonde hair and a beard. He wore glasses, an orange plaid shirt, blue pants on suspenders, and brown shoes. It's yet to be revealed what his current appearance is in his later years.

Personality[]

At first glance, Henry Emily may seem to be rather soft-spoken, stoic, and near emotionless. However, as heard in his monologues, Henry is, deep down, a severely broken man drowned in his own guilt and remorse. He immensely regretted trusting his best friend and business partner William Afton, as doing so unknowingly allowed him to kill a number of innocent children, the first of which was his own daughter Charlotte. It is shown that he deeply missed her and displayed immense regret and emotional agony at being unable to save her, claiming that his loss and pain ultimately bled out to cause the things Afton committed. All of these factors drove Henry to the point where he wanted to commit suicide out of regret. However, it appears that he has a strong will, as he refused to die until he killed his friend, and took his vengeance upon the monster who took everything from him. He also feels the need to help the remaining souls of the children pass on to the afterlife. In the end, when his plan came into fruition, he showed no care for his life, as he burned with the rest of the animatronics, feeling happy in the belief that the nightmare would finally end, Henry would be with his daughter in the afterlife, and William would be sent to hell where he belongs.

History[]

Henry Emily was the father of Charlotte Emily, and the founder of Fazbear Entertainment, Inc.. Henry had help creating the company with his best friend and business partner, William Afton, who was also the owner and founder of his own company, Afton Robotics, LLC. William and Henry opened their first location, Fredbear's Family Diner, a local family restaurant that had two mascots, Fredbear and Spring Bonnie, whom Henry created. They were both Springlock Suits, special hybrid suits that could switch from wearable costumes to animatronic entertainers.

In 1983, Henry and William expanded their company by opening Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Henry built its four main animatronics, Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. That same year, tragedy struck Henry when his daughter Charlie was killed outside of one of his establishments by his own friend, William. Things would only spiral further from here, as a little boy died in an accident where his head was crushed by Fredbear's operating mouth. Due to this tragic incident, Fredbear's Family Diner was closed.

In 1985, two years after Fredbear's closure, William continued to cause trouble for Henry by murdering five children at Freddy's, causing them to haunt the four animatronics, as well as the mysterious fifth Golden Freddy. Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was promptly closed and Henry sold the company to unknown buyers. Henry then went into hiding and no one had heard or seen him since.

Decades passed, and Henry was unable to move on from his daughter's death. He eventually realized that the man who murdered Charlie and several other children was none other than William. He could have stopped it all had he known about it much sooner. He also learned that the animatronics were haunted by William's victims, and his daughter haunted the animatronic he created to protect her, The Puppet. Out of immense regret and grief, Henry considered committing suicide, but he couldn't allow himself to rest until he killed William and avenged his victims to stop the madman once and for all. He concocted a plan to trap the remaining four animatronics: Scrap Baby; Molten Freddy; William, who was permanently trapped inside the Spring Bonnie suit due to a springlock failure; and the Puppet, whom he trapped inside his creation made to capture it, Lefty. He got a job as a cassette tape instructor and taught a Fazbear Entertainment franchisee who bought out Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place how to salvage the remaining animatronics under their legal obligations of paragraph four.

In the Completion Ending, after the work week ends, he interrupts Scrap Baby's monologue. He reveals that Baby is haunted by William's own daughter, Elizabeth, who was killed by Baby long ago. He addresses the franchisee, speaking of how there was a way out for him, but that he knows that he would rather die with the rest of the animatronics. He pleads with the souls in the animatronics to pass on, along with some harsh words for his old friend William, telling him that the darkest pit of hell is waiting for him. Finally, he speaks to his daughter inside Lefty one last time, apologizing for not being able to save her on the day she died, and tells her that this time he will succeed in saving her by giving her the chance to pass on. As Henry speaks, he sets the building on fire, destroying the animatronics, William, the franchise, and himself, in an attempt to end the decades of despair and sadness that began in 1983 and giving Henry and Charlie their well deserved rest and peace.

Trivia[]

  • Henry Emily was initially known as Cassette Man in Pizzeria Simulator's credits. His real name was only hinted at in the Insanity Ending, as the audio tape playing through the office monitor is called "HRY223". However, PJ Heywood, who voiced William Afton throughout the franchise, revealed on "The FNaF Show" that Cassette Man is Henry (seemingly without Scott Cawthon’s knowledge or consent), tying him to the Henry Emily in the novels.
  • Henry was indirectly mentioned in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 by Phone Guy, who states that the company was looking for the "original restaurant owner" of Fredbear's Family Diner. Phone Guy also states that prior to the events of the game, he had been missing for years.
  • In Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, Gregory enters a room that is theorized to be where Henry initiated the fire that burned down the Pizzeria Simulator location. This room is later referred to as an "oven" by Cassie in the Ruin DLC due to the burners on the floor.
  • Henry is one of the characters (Michael Afton and Hudson are the others) theorized to be the Security Guard of Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction in Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
  • Due to Henry's condemnation of William to Hell, reference to the Devil, and belief in a "peace and perhaps more, waiting...after the smoke clears," in his Completion Ending monologue, it can be inferred that Henry likely believes in some form of Abrahamic religion.

Salvage

the Cassette man describing how to Salvage for the first time with Molten Freddy.

Congratulations on completing your first day. However, your job isn’t over just yet. There is another aspect to your end of day routine, and that is inspecting and salvaging any animatronics found in the alley outside the backdoor. Things are found here quite often, and while we aren’t sure why, what we do know, is that they can be used for parts, which can mean a much-needed revenue boost before starting your next day. Of course, as with everything else in this line of work, those benefits come with risk. The safest thing to do is to throw it back outside. But then, you get no money for the salvage. Choose to keep it, and you run the risk of certain negative consequences – namely...death – should the item in question not be as docile as it first appeared. If you do decide to try to salvage it, then you must complete the Maintenance Checklist. During this testing phase, check on the animatronic frequently. If you feel that it is becoming unstable, use the taser provided to you. You can use it three times without damaging the hardware. Every use over three however will decrease the item’s salvage value.

Before you is an animatronic found in the back alley, we are unsure of its origins. It is your job to complete the Maintenance Checklist before claiming it as salvage. Or, if you choose to, you can throw it back into the alley where you found it, and forfeit payment. Please make your choice now.

You have chosen to proceed with the Maintenance Checklist. Remember, use your company-issued taser to return the animatronic to a neutral state if you feel that it's becoming unstable or aggressive. You can only use it three times before it begins to damage the animatronic, and decrease its value. Begin audio prompt in three, two, one. *Distorted warbling sound* Document results.

Completion Ending

Connection terminated. I'm sorry to interrupt you, Elizabeth, if you still even remember that name, but I'm afraid you've been misinformed. You are not here to receive a gift, nor have you been called here by the individual you assume. Although you have indeed been called. You have all been called here into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune. A labyrinth with no exit, a maze with no prize. You don't even realize that you are trapped. Your lust for blood has driven you in endless circles, chasing the cries of children in some unseen chamber always seeming so near, yet somehow out of reach. But you will never find them. None of you will. This is where your story ends.

And to you, my brave volunteer, who somehow found this job listing
not intended for you: although there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that's not what you want. I have a feeling that you are right where you want to be. I am remaining as well. I am nearby. This place will not be remembered, and the memory of everything that started this can finally begin to fade away, as the agony of every tragedy should.

And to you monsters trapped in the corridors, be still and give up your spirits. They don't belong to you. For most of you, I believe there is peace and perhaps more, waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although, for
one of you, the darkest pit of Hell has opened to swallow you whole, so don't keep the Devil waiting, old friend.

My daughter, if you can hear me, I knew you would return as well. It's in your nature to protect the innocent. I'm sorry on
that day, the day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you up into their arms the way you lifted others into yours. And then, what became of you. I should have known you wouldn't be content to disappear, not my daughter. I couldn't save you then, so let me save you now. It's time to rest; for you, and for those you have carried in your arms. This ends for all of us. End communication.

Insanity Ending

I-It's only now that I understand the depth of the depravity of this...creature - this monster that I unwillingly helped to create. As if what he had already done wasn't enough, he found a new way to desecrate, to humiliate, to destroy. As if the suffering wasn't enough, the loss of innocence, the loss of everything to so many people. Small souls trapped in prisons of my making now set to new purpose and used in ways I never thought imaginable. He lured them all back. Back to a familiar place. Back with familiar tricks. He brought them all together. Are they still...aware? I hope not. It keeps me awake at night. I could make myself...sleep. But not yet. Not until I undo what he has done and heal this wound - a wound first inflicted on me, but then one that I let bleed out to cause all of this. He set some kind of trap.
